I am only getting 16-17 mpg in Eco mode. Seems about 5 mpg less than expected. What are you getting?

On freeway trips: 20-22mpg. On streets: 17-19mpg. Stock tires at 35psi, 5200miles. I stopped driving in Eco, now driving mostly in Normal mode. I noticed that I was getting around 17mpg during the first 1000 miles, then started seeing 20-23mpg on the highway. Tell us about your driving habits / routine.

I get about 18 when making highway trips on interstate at 75+. I feel like we could have used a 10 speed transmission because at that speed I am running over 2000 RPM. Combined city and highway for me around 20. I have driven it with my purse and the best I can do is 22 down hill both ways.

From July-October i was between 24.1-25.8.....60/40 highway city.
Now that it's winter and warming it up I've been between 22.9-23.7.
Stock 1958

Fuelly has it at 18.7

This is frustrating. I expected the new 4cyl to provide much better mileage than the NA 6cyl. Class action suit seems warranted.

I am in Dallas also, just curious because I want to compare with someone that sits in the same traffic lol. I am going about 5 miles each way from lovers/central area to uptown for work and getting 17.2 on average each tank. Are you driving into town from the burbs or have a similar commute? I also have the FE roof rack which probably discounts my MPG a little from yours.

My commute in the mornings is about 90% highway and in the evenings is a little stop and go. I think the sweet spot is about 60 MPH but you would get a bunch of fingers at that speed in Dallas.

The estimates are frustratingly wrong but I think it is important to consider that this engine is predominantly about performance, not efficiency. There is a lot of low end torque, which is great for accelerating and for driving off-road but not for gas mileage. I know this will touch nerves for some members of this forum, but if you drive like a normal person and are considerate to other drivers you simply will not get the kind of mileage that's possible in closed-world testing.

that actually makes me feel pretty good about my 17.2 on such short trips with about 60% hwy. surprised that you get similar results with jeep and bronco though. I guess your majority hwy miles keep everything pretty leveled out where more city miles favor the LC hybrid.

I was using eco mode, started using normal mode, noticed no difference in gas mileage but liked the perf of normal better. Sport is fun, but too jerky around town and not really necessary on highway trips.

I get ~18-21 with non-highway and 21-24 with highway. Hillier areas lead to lower figures the more uphill you are going without equal off gas time on the downhill.

Totally stock and not carrying anything particularly heavy. Going by what it says on the dash, end of trip reports, and also fuelly.

16.64 MPG. Been tracking it since June in old school way of noting miles and how much gas pumped into tanks. Best tank was 21.34 gallons, but the reading before was 14.56 (anomaly).

I'd call expected MPGs on this vehicle to be fraudulent. Surprised nobody has done a class-action lawsuit on them. It's not even close.

I think the last time this was successfully litigated in the USA was against Hyundai and Kia 10 years ago that ended up in a $100 million fine, since it covered more than 1 million vehicles sold. Doubtful that 20+ years into selling hybrids Toyota would forget how to perform accurate EPA MPG tests/certification given the penalties for making mistakes.
