AUX switches?

All, I failed to look into this during my test drive a few weeks ago. Are there any Auxilliary switches available in the new LC similar to what they are putting into the 6th Gen 4Runner (see picture).

These are for adding your own devices (light bar, compressor, etc.) without having to add an aftermarket switch panel like a Switch Pros.

I don’t believe so. I had them on my Bronco. They were awesome as Ford had prewired the car for the 6 switches. All you had to do was attach your accessories to the wire at the locations and the, attach the wires to the switch(s) with the correct amperage. Took about 5min of connecting the pre-run wires and you were done.

I would love to be wrong about the LC not having then so please make my day and correct me.

I'm pretty sure that space has a trailer brake controller. No aux switches. The only place that I can see where some might be added would be the trim panel located just below the AC controls. On the trims that come with cameras, there is a "View" switch and a block off plate. Shouldn't be too long before someone will 3D print a replacement panel with more switch openings.

On the trims w/o wireless chargers, there might be an area where the charging pad sits. But being there is almost zero storage cubbys in all trims, that is prime real estate.

One might be able to remove the brake controller (wire tie it behind the dash) and use that space

Sure wish they would take a trick out of the jeep play book. My wrangler has 4 aux switches nicely built in to the dash and all the wiring is already run through the fire wall and ends in a nice pigtail up near the grill and battery. Actual wiring up of 2 sets of KC's took minutes.

Yeah, they are doing it in the upcoming 6th gen 4Runner. Wouldn't be surprised if the new Tacoma has them as well.

A switch panel (and lightbar) will be one of the first mods I do after I install my Prinsu rack after I get my tires after I get my wheels after I get my LC.

No AUX switches in the 2024 LC's. Kind of sucks. Tacomas are coming with them, and the new 4Runner will have them. Not sure why the LC doesn't. Factory AUX switches are one of the best options they're putting in new trucks/SUV's these days, along with factory brake controllers. There's plenty of room for switches under the AC controls - probably going to be an option for 2025.

Looking at photos & the quick reference guide, it looks like depending on the trim there are a couple blanks to the left of the wheel, one to the right next to the "TOW HAUL" switch, and that one in the center next to the camera view switch. I agree with @EOD Guy that last location would probably be the easiest place to modify and add several switches. Otherwise it's four blanks scattered across several locations. Ok if you have only one thing to add I guess?

Edit: that upper right spot is used for fog lights, so only one blank on the left for US models.

A great show came out a few years ago on Apple TV called "Long Way Up". Ewen McGreggor and a buddy rode electric Harley's from the southern tip of South America to Los Angeles. They partnered with Rivian to provide support trucks and install charging stations all along the route. The R1T was not in production and they had early versions. This was the dash:

After viewing some very detailed pictures in the Flipper thread, there appears to be 3 blanks for additional switches.

1 - L/H dash switch panel
1 - Next to the Tow Haul Switch (right of the steering wheel)
1 - Next to the "View" switch (trim panel under the A/C controls)

Three will do for me.....LOL

Anybody got a clue what size switches will fit those blanks? I’m not doing anything crazy like I did on my taco, just a light bar behind the grill and rock lights, but those blanks are about half the size of the taco switches I’m used to using, thanks yall.

Yes, they are "cube" size, search for "EOD's Guy Ride" for pictures and sources.

You need to stop "pushing" these. They are going to be sold out before I can order mine.

I am seriously interested in this option. However, I'm not a huge fan of the switch panel (pictured below) that comes with it. It just doesn't fit the asthetic I'm looking for. Would much rather have the OEM look. That being said, I'm wondering if you could hack one these and wire switches like @EOD Guy to the control panel behind the dash. Do you know if the control panel would be easily disassembled to run some wires into it? I assume it's mostly a Bluetooth transmitter with some buttons and a control board but without having one in hand, it's hard to tell.

Normally on those type switch panels, it's just a very small surface mounted momentary switch soldered to the PCB board. If you had skills, it would be very possible to remove the surface mounted switches and solder in some wires that could be connected to EOM style switches. Very delicate work tho'.

You would still have to run power wires to the under hood box etc......... By putting in a 6 relay box (see my build page) it's the same amount of under hood work. Running 8 wires (or however many you think you'll need) through the fire wall is 30 min of work at best. You don't even have to drill a hole, there's one already on/in the firewall, all you need is a gromet. Remove the sill plate, remove the 10mm plastic nut holding the kick panel down, remove the kick panel, pull back the carpet and wedge it under the brake pedal. There is some sound deadening felt stuff that's wrapped around the factory wire bundle pass-through, you don't have to pull it back but it looks like you would have to. The factory hole is just above the felt stuff. I installed a gromet in the OEM hole, I took my 7 wires (6 were the trigger wires for the relays, I should have used 8) taped the ends together and pushed them through the gromet about 8-10 inches, went inside and simply pulled them through. If you also remove the dash end trim piece, there is plenty of room to snake the wires up (right beside the switch panel).

For power, you can use a straight 12V hot or 12V switched (see my build thread) and tap into the driver's side power distribution center with some fuse taps. easy piezy. To light the OEM style switches I tapped into the rheostat wire (build page)

This is totally wireless. Push a button and it sends a signal to the trigger unit under the hood. I’m not sure if it’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You don’t even have to use these switches. You could just use the app on your phone.

It comes with a little magnetic plate. I use double-sided tape and mounted the magnetic plate to my dash in my 4runner and just slap this switch back onto it.

Garmin has a switch box that is compatible with CarPlay now. Probably a good clean option for the LC given the limited real estate. Probably what I’ll do if/when I add any accessories.
