I personally don't find it to be an under powered vehicle at all. It's about what I signed up for, which is great. Decent power, really good torque. I think Toyota hit a nice sweet spot with this engine. If people are worried about 0-60 times in a boxy (but admittedly bad ass looking) vehicle, that's just not what these are built for. You know what should have a pretty good 0-60 time? A BMW X5. Just sold one after 9 years. Nice vehicle in many respects, but aside from the fact that I needed more utility out of a vehicle that I just wasn't going to get out of the X5, I think the LC feels a bit more powerful.

It’s interesting to note that the video acknowledged the strong off-road capabilities of the Land Cruiser, but then excoriated it for less than desirable on-road performance (specifically acceleration).

In my experience, the power unit of the Land Cruiser 250 has been smooth and predictable. It appeared to me that the engine noise in the video was from putting the vehicle in manual mode and running it all the way to the redline. In fact, at one point in the video, the engine noise continued to swell while it appeared he was cruising at a nearly constant speed as opposed to accelerating aggressively. I’m not going to deny that the twin turbo V6 combined with the 10 speed automatic transmission in the GX 550 is a smoother powertrain, but the LC 250 powertrain isn’t anywhere as unrefined as he portrayed it in the video.

I used to own a Lexus LX 570, and while it was a very well built vehicle, I legitimately prefer the LC 250 to it in nearly every way (with the exception of the rear hatch on the Lexus, which was a split tailgate, and the overall quieter ride). It’s also interesting to note that the 0-60 time of the LC 250 is nearly the same as the LX 570, while getting significantly better gas mileage.

I actually thought that the majority of the video was very informative and very well made, but just thought that he overstated the on-road powertrain differences between the LC and the GX. It’s unfortunate that many people may take this video at face value and overlook the LC without experiencing it for themselves.
