2025 Land Cruiser
Love em or hate em. We all like to watch these content generators put their knowledge(?), intellectual laziness, incompetence, bias, and schilling out on the internet for all to see. So I thought it deserves its own thread so we can consolidate them.

Here is another LC hater. Can we please stop propogating the myth that the GX550 Overtrail trims are the same price as a Land Cruiser so you might as well go with the Lexus?

How Toyota Got the 2024 Land Cruiser So Wrong

Can you say... annoying queen?

I think these youtube guys just copy what others say and call it a review.

Yeah, we know they arn't cheap.... but my 7th L/C and this WAS the cheapest yet!

And I call mine... Land Cruiser "Lite", but is ample for just me and my two dogs.

Why post this on here? Who cares. Absolutely no vehicle is perfect. There are VERY few people who purchased the new LC who are either unhappy or surprised about anything. These youtubers are trolls who are looking for clicks.

The amazing thing is the production quality of the video is relatively high. He went to a lot of effort to create a bunch of garbage. 👷‍♀️🏗️🗑️

I'm tired of these jack ass reviews from people who don't understand the market or the vehicle they are reviewing. I'm trying to watch more overland adventure stuff.... way better content
These videos are basically saying “Why Toyota is not producing a g-wagon competitor for 50k”.
The car they are envisioning exists, and it costs 160k.

The problem is, we are lured into clicking on them, and they receive credit. If there was some form of review/rating system to warn folks prior...

I like Ronnie Dahl. Any good adventure stuff you suggest?

There's a channel I just started following called "outlandish overlanding". The vids are very cool even though he's doing it in a Chevy ZR2. The Story Until Now is also very cool. That guy has great videography with professional editing skills. Beautiful scenery. He does his stuff in a Jeep Gladiator Diesel.

They've said the same thing in the past about my LC200 series. Overpriced, full of fluff, etc. Who cares. I wouldn't sell it for anything. Those who have purchased the LC250 and not liked them have sold them. The rest of us love the vehicle despite some imperfections. I think Toyota has hit a homerun at this price point.

The video by The car care nut is very good. Overall he liked it and pointed out some of the same things I don't like. The diaper hitch cover, Iforce max emblem, high level of the cargo area. He put it on a lift to see under.

I enjoyed the first part of the video that included the history of Toyota and the Land Cruiser

Obviously I don't agree with his entire critique of the LC 250, but the part that I just don't get is how strongly he claims it to be "under powered" and hates on the engine and drivetrain...

I've owned and driven quite a few truly under-powered vehicles (with the worst offender being my 1st gen 4Runner), and I've owned/driven vehicles focused on performance. Personally, I don't find the LC 250 with the iForceMAX 4-cylinder gas hybrid (i.e. the "US version") to be under-powered at all. I never find myself underwhelmed by it's ability to accelerate, between the turbo and hybrid motor, if anything, I'm more often impressed at just how much jump it does have, given the size of the vehicle for a relatively small engine, even when going up hills. Do I feel like I'm in a sports car with unlimited power and acceleration? Do I feel like I'm being thrown back in my seat every time I tap the gas pedal? No...but it's a large, boxy, body-on-frame SUV, that was never an expectation I had.

Full disclosure, I have never driven a 100 or 200 series LC with the V8 (or any other LC for that matter), so I can't make a direct comparison...sure, I imagine that the V8 was both smoother and quieter...at about half the fuel economy. Can anyone that's coming from one of these older LC's or similarly powered vehicle weigh in? Do you feel the new 250 is under-powered?

I have noticed that the transmission is a bit "jerky" when accelerating quickly if the engine is cold, but after about 5 minutes of driving that's completely gone, and that's really the only minor gripe I can possibly come up with.

Also, I don't care that "it's a Prado" or part of the "light duty" LC lineage...that's exactly what I need and want...I was never going to be in the market for a 300 series LC, whether they were offered here in the US or not (though the 70 series might be a lot more tempting), but I was immediately interested in learning more about the 250 once it was announced, as I had already been considering a new 4Runner.

Does the eventual reliability of the new engine (iForceMAX) concern me? Absolutely...admit that I took a leap of faith there, but I've owned many Toyotas in the past, and trust them to make things right...but other than the unproven reliability factor that naturally will come with something like this, I've mostly been impressed and happy with my new Land Cruiser 250 Prado; no regrets, no buyer's remorse...just having a lot of fun driving it.

The LC200 powertrain is smoother than the LC250. Inside it's quieter with less wind and powertrain noise. That being said the LC250 is not underpowered as compared to the LC200. In fact I would say throttle response is better in the LC250. Feels quicker especially when passing on the highway. The LC100 was/is a dog compared the the two newer series LC's and yet it's a great vehicle, wish I hadn't sold mine.

His primary complaint is appears to be that it’s underpowered and the engine is noisy. I think that’s a reasonable criticism. However, the older vehicles he spent so much time praising are notoriously underpowered and noisy. What’s the top highway cruising speed for that FJ60? It ain’t high.

I do have a lot of respect for Jason and others do too. His review will be widely viewed unfortunately.

Well, I respectfully disagree, I guess...but that's good, because I wouldn't want to know I just spent my hard-earned money on what I felt was an under-powered vehicle.

I suppose I should clarify. I don’t find it underpowered myself, but I know that modern Americans expect that every vehicle is fast. I find it odd that people care about 0-60 times in an SUV.
