Wonderful engine just love this thing.

From 2002 my daily drivers have been 4 Lexus IS300's and one GS350 - all great cars (my favourite was my first IS300 - a 2002, it was a blast to drive) and my wife's been driving 4Runners, which I've always enjoyed driving but was always more at home in the sedans. I'm now 3,000 kms (just shy of 1,900 miles) in the LC and loving it - obviously a big change from what I've been driving, but it's now my favourite vehicle of all time. Although its not a 'zero to 60' type vehicle it's punchy off the line and I find the power overall very smooth - maybe not quite as silky smooth that the naturally aspirated GS and IS's that I've been accustomed to, but for a 4 cylinder turbo hybrid it's better than I had hoped.

the Lexi were great and I really enjoyed them - but was ready for a change and I couldn't be happier in the LC. I'm consistantly getting 10 litres / 100km (+23 mpg) of mixed city / rural driving, love the high driving position and the overall comfort of it.

Great to hear others enjoying their's just as much and having a similar experience.

Been getting more time on the highway and we're still in the break in period so not pushing it, but it is just wonderful. Now don't get me wrong it's not fast per say it's just that the torque is so readily available that it makes ii so responsive. I would imagine that it depends on your driving style and I'm not a fast driver, but I want it to do what I want it to do and this engine just responds. It is such a joy to drive. I don't know how confident I feel about how the long turn durability will work out, there's a lot of stuff going on here. I am kind of thinking that the TTV6 will likely be more durable, but this hybrid is really something.
I love the engine too but hoping it lasts for a long life. At least we know Toyota is well known for being the masters of Hybrid engines so we can only hope for that long life.

Driving tonight on Interstate and lots of traffic. In ECO mode and needed to cross 3 lanes to get to exit. Gently pressed gas as I am still only 850 miles in and driving super conservative, but the LC just takes off. Felt like the sports car that I have never owned. So quick to get to where I need to be to make the lane changes. Unbelievable! And I am in ECO and barely pressing the gas. Coming from 25 years of 4Runners my baseline is set pretty low when it comes to speed ๐Ÿ˜‚. Need to hit that 1000mi and get my oil changed and then watch out. Just love this land cruiser so far.

Got to make my 1st 2 lane pass today, it felt like I was in a sports car!!!!! It was just an immediate ZIP! Doing that in my 5th gen 4runner felt like it took 5 mins.

My MPGs are taking a hit now because I'm driving it like it's a sports car. The engine is sooo amazing with the low end torque and now that I lowered the air pressure and it feels so well planted, I am just enjoying it so much. I knew it would be a solid build, but did not expect such pleasing drive characteristics. And coming from a Porsche Macan GTS I was not expecting this. I love how this thing drives.

First post here, just got my LC yesterday, but reading this made me chuckle: I donโ€™t think anyone could have been more surprised about how well this thing drives than me ๐Ÿ˜‚ Much like everyone I followed the announcements and watched all the YouTube videos for a year, waiting to get my hands on oneโ€ฆ then about 2 months ago I test drove the GX550 and boy did I not like it! Too much to get into here but I was really disappointed. So when I was about to test drive the LC yesterday, I kind of expected the same outcome, so I thought oh well, itโ€™s the same platform. But man was I surprised! First 2 minutes on the road sealed the deal for me๐Ÿ˜Š Drove for about 45 minutes, left with the LC a few hours later. Loving it!

The drivetrain was definitely my biggest hesitation coming in, turned out to be the LCโ€™s biggest gem. Was also on the GX list since it was announced and got to test drive that as soon as the dealership had one, albeit being a test drive mule. Good impressions there. Weeks later stopped by a Toyota dealership on a whim and got lucky on a cancellation. Test drove it and got an even better first impression than the GX. Drove it home in about an hour and itโ€™s been magic since.

Side note, those new dealership checkout processes with the tablet really sped things up. I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever spent that much money that fast.

They want to take your money as fast as possible ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜–

I was very surprised when I test drove mine. almost 4000 miles later it still gives me a huge smile. I absolutely love this vehicle!

I'll admit some of the other posts about low MPG and excessive tech alarms were getting me down but this thread certainly highlights the positives and is getting me excited!

Very curious how this drivetrain feels in the GX, however. The weight difference may actually warrant the V6, but I'd love to test drive one before passing judgement.

About twenty to twenty five more horse power. I canโ€™t remember the torque. Honestly about the same as our Land Cruisers. My wife has the GX. She absolutely loves it.
I drove it once or twice and honestly it feels the same as far as performance goes. I do like the ventilation for the seats. Other creature comforts are nice.

One other thing I forgot to mention about the GX. It does have a third row, but in all regards hard to use and when in the upright position there is no storage space at all.

Drove today for longest trip since driving home from the dealership back in August when I didn't know what the truck was doing...all the bells and nannies and the thing trying to steer for me which I didn't understand.
So 250 miles today. Down on OBX/Rodanthe where this LC is at home in sand. Yes what a pleasure to drive this thing. Power when you need it. Trying to hold back from using too much really. Used the assisted driving modes - the car basically drove itself and I monitored. And got 23 MPGs. Not bad.
FE - removed air dams๐Ÿ˜‚. Nitto Grapplers 265/70/18
