I’ve had my LC since June and just got a chip in the windshield. This is a week after getting the windshield completely replaced due to a crack that immediately ran 8”. Needless to say I am not very happy with the quality of the windshields. I’m hoping I can get it plugged before it runs but it’s Sunday and nothing is open. Worst part is the chip is driver side field of vision.

There’s definitely a quality issue. Has anyone had success with Toyota owning up to the poor quality?

Curious what you drove before you got the LC.

They have near vertical windshields and will naturally be more susceptible to damage than most vehicles. Hard to avoid, but some insurance companies offer increased glass coverage.

Audi Q5, Ford F150 and Jeep Wrangler none of which have had issues

Yeah, over the years I have had to replace Ford, Chevy, Volvo and Jeep windshields as well.

Hard to know whether it is the windshield quality, increased highway speeds that we drive, or worse road maintenance and surface debris. I suspect our glass has gotten better and it is the latter two that are the culprits.

It’s going to be hard to prevent a pebble hitting your windshield. I try not to tailgate other vehicles but I have gotten chips from oncoming vehicles. I know when someone tailgates me I usually maintain speed but go off the shoulder into the dirt, for some reason they back off, especially convertibles. If I had to guess it’s because they can hear the rocks hitting their windshield.

Both my f150 and my f250 have had multiple windshields. The 250 gets one about every 10 months but it gets driven a lot. I think you're just having some bad luck.
I hope it’s just bad luck, haven’t had to replace or repair anything in my other vehicles for years

Purely anecdotal, but I've had two cracked windshield in 30 years driving and they both occurred within a week of each other, the second the day after a fresh one was installed, and that was on a hatchback coupe with a very sloped windshield angle. That said, the physics of the LC250's vertical and very flat windshield does seem higher risk than most for stone impacts.

I have replaced about 5 windshields in 6 years on my last ride. Nothing to do with quality. I replaced them with OEM and aftermarket and it didn't matter they all cracked after getting a chip in them. I have noticed the LC windshield is a bug collector so I am betting on lots of rocks hitting it too as it is almost vertical.
