I've been thinking about this and just have to say that after 2,000 miles, there is no doubt in my mind that my 24LCLC is my favorite car that I have owned. Maybe it’s because it’s the highest end/most expensive car I’ve had, but I think it’s more than that. But I have feelings about all the rest. I can still see and feel that Prelude, and of course, distinctly remember hitting 125mph as a dumb 16-year old on an east TX highway. The fantastic 4WD capability of the Cherokee in the snow of upstate NY. The utter boringness of the Pilot and Highlander. And of course, the rumble, power and 12mpg of the V8 4R. But my 24LC just tops them all.

My car journey (in order of ownership):
1988 Honda Prelude (used)
1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo (used)
1996 Chevy Blazer (new)
2006 Honda Pilot (new)
2004 Toyota Highlander (used)
2006 Toyota 4Runner – V8 (used)
2016 Toyota 4Runner Ltd (new)
2024 Toyota LCLC

So what’s your journey and where does your LC stand?

In order of ownership (the order is correct, their model year and how long I had them is best recollection):
2000 Saab 9-3SE, midnight blue (new 2000-2004)
Suzuki Grand Vitara - used, not sure what year the car was (late 90s to early 00s) I had it 2004-2007 (was living in another country where the duty on cars was 100% and cars were limited in size, so this was sort of like a Jeep Cherokee equivalent there).
2003 Saab 9-3SE, red (used 2007-2008)
2008 Lexus RX350, dark gray (new 2008-2010)
2010 Lexus RX350, dark gray (new 2010-2012)
2012 Lexus CT, black (new 2012-2013)
2010 Audi R8 v10, black w/carbon (used 2012-2013)
2013 Jaguar F-Type S Convertible, black (new 2013-2014 - blew up)
2013 Range Rover Evoque Black Pack, some fancy sparkle black (new 2013-2015)
2014 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, storm trooper white w/ red interior (new 2014-2015)
2015 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition, black (new 2015-2019)
no car, on purpose (lived in a city this whole time so cars were a hassle and $$$) (2019-2021)
2017 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, black w/ red interior (used 2021-2023)
2010 Lexus RX350, silver (used 2021-2024)
2024 LCLC, Heritage blue (new, current)

Hard to compare some of these since so different in use cases, but overall the LCLC is my favorite car that I have owned.

During the 2012-2015 period I was also renting cars on race tracks and doing training at racing schools, so I didn't own them but got to drive a wide range of high performance stuff. Helped get that out of my system, which led to the Abarth spider (basically a Miata) which is as fun to drive and less likely to get a massive speeding ticket.

Lexus is300 (favorite car and reliable.. unfortunately totalled by a school bus while parked :( after an unproblematic 11 years)

BMW x3 which did well until classic unreliability and high maintenance costs and repairs started kicking in year 5. But began liking the additional space and seating.

And back to the Lexus/toyota with the LC! Picked this over the GX cause of the interior buttons and old school look and hybrid engine!

Owned the 2002 vert and 2011 E63 only as long as the payments lasted. Loved the convertible, but the usage was super specific to enjoy it with the top down. That scuttle shake, inherent to open tops, was also unbearable after a while.

Loved the E63 and that M156. The MCT that came with it was trash in practice.

Everything else is still in the garage. I don't seem to let go of cars I truly enjoy. They're worth nothing in the open market, anyway. So they're all on rotation for my 92-mile everyday commute.

I'll play!

There's the motorcycles, but I'll update that another day 😅

Can I remember them all?

Before I had my own vehicles I learned to drive in 1970's Ford F150 4x4's, an old Impala, and an old Galaxy 500. My dad taught me to drive off-road before he'd trust me on road, I guess because we were going slower?

1973 Monte Carlo hand me down from my older brother. Transmission eventually died, we sold the V8 to someone who wanted to upgrade a Camero I think?
1978 Mustang II
1983 Mustang GT -- My then girlfriend now wife learned to drive stick in this. Lots of fun but so expensive to maintain, I decided I could be making payments on something reliable and still save money! Thus:
1991 Toyota Pickup 4WD MT -- would take us anywhere, just not always very quickly.
2000 VW Jetta VR6 MT -- our first second vehicle.
2004 Subaru WRX (MT with skid plate package) -- replaced the Toyota Pickup. Convinced me I always wanted full time AWD/4WD.
2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser MT -- replaced the Subaru which wasn't high clearance enough! MT FJs are full time 4WD.
2014 Jetta Hybrid -- replaced the earlier Jetta.
2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser TTUE MT -- we'd put a lot of miles on the first one and wanted to get another while we still could. Still driving this until I get a Land Cruiser.
2023 Volvo S60 Recharge -- my wife wanted a plug in hybrid, the only other thing with this kind of range was the RAV4. There were crazy markups on the RAV4s and she likes the Volvo way better. Maybe something about the whole luxury vibe. Maybe the 455HP.

And if the right one ever shows up, a 2025 Land Cruiser will replace the FJ.

Loved my first car, hated my Jetta I swear I got a lemon but was too young to know better. The Genesis (my midlife car) I loved loved loved, but I got stuck in bad weather too often. Love my Outback, put some serious miles on her, still debating on keep/sell situation.

You're like me. Now that I'm 48 years old and a lover of all things with engines, my list is going to be long......very long.

I've had a few over the years. In order of ownership. Just my daily drivers.

1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2 Door (used)
1965 Mercury Park Lane (used)
1986 Civic HB (used)
1969 AMC AMX (used)
1991 Toyota Pickup (new) Met wife 6 months later
1987 Grand National (used)
1977 CJ-7 Golden Eagle (used)
1987 Nissan Pulsar NX (Hand me down from wife, sold CJ to get a family car) (Traded it for Prelude, much better)
1988 Honda Prelude (used) Baby seat doesn't fit, oops
1991 YJ Wrangler (used) Told no trading cars need to keep it a long time. Swapped entire drivetrain, spring over, 33s, Warn 8274, rock sliders. An amazing vehicle that took the family on many adventures. (1993-2006 longest vehicle i've owned)
1997 Miata (used)
1999 Dodge Ram 2500 (used)
2006 Dodge Ram 3500 (new)
1998 Miata (used)
2011 VW Golf TDI (new) (Down to two vehicles for the first time in 10 years)
2016 Mazda SGT HB (new) Traded for LC
2009 JK Wrangler (used)
2024 LC LC250
While deciding on my next vehicle I started a list of the places in the US that I want to visit for the first time and again. This includes on and off road adventures. Once Toyota announced the Land Cruiser it was at the top of the list. It's amazing on road and I can't wait to take it off road. I am going to have this for a long time to come!
