đź‘‹ Welcome to the new Land Cruiser Forum - Please post an introduction thread!

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a 2025 Land Cruiser. Enjoy reading everyone’s stories and discoveries. Still learning how to turn off all the “helpful” warnings and ding ding dingers.
Welcome to the Jungle!

Hey All!

Long time LandCruiser enthusiast here for the LC250 fun. Finally bought one after seeing it in person and just digging the design. Bought the 2025 1958 trim at discount from a local dealer in Wisconsin.

I had an FJ55 as a kid to drive in Northern Wisconsin, lusted after Fj40’s and a friend had an FJ60 that I was a fan of. I wanted an FJ Cruiser when they first came out but didn’t get one until 2018. The LC250 will be my more civilized Roadtrip rig with some adventure here and there.

I have some Greenlane parts on order and some forged wheels in the works for later this year. Looking forward to enjoying driving this more and more.

Nice to meet you all.

New LC forum member here! I traded in my 13 year old minivan in August, and am about 5k miles in. I received a LC match box car from my parents for my 16th birthday, and thought that would be the closest I’d get to a real one. Loving the real thing!

If someone had told me a month ago that I'd be posting here, I would have called that person crazy.

At that time my wife was starting to look for a replacement for our 15 year old Sienna, with eyes on a Rav4 or a Highlander. The Toyota sales person agreed either would be a good choice given her buying criteria, and also suggested she check out the Crown Signa. As for me, I am sworn and dedicated to lightweight, affordable, rear wheel drive sports cars: e.g., Mazda MX-5. And I loved the utility of our Sienna, plus it had a solid V6 that was still running super smooth and strong at its age.

We both made the "mistake" of sitting in, then test driving a 2024 LC Base + Premium package. My wife said she loved it, but that she would never want to actually purchase that sort of vehicle. I was very impressed with the LC, and had no idea it would drive the way it drove, but had similar thoughts on "not going to happen."

The next weekend, at her request, we test drove a '58, and then another LC Base + Premium with the 20" wheels, back-to-back.

This past Friday morning we picked up a 2024 LC Base + Premium, 20" wheels, in Wind Chill Pearl.

In the photo you can see the snow flurries starting to develop while we were at the dealer, right before we drove off the lot. Overnight we had a light coating of snow and ice. Turns out that when a small bit of ice keeps the exterior door handle from returning to its closed position, there is no way to get the door open from the inside. Not knowing this is what was going on from the inside, and not able to get the door to open, I had the fun of climbing over the middle console to exit the passenger side door. Design flaw? Or not?

Today we drove the LC for 3 hours over the types of roads I typically drive my MX-5 for my daily commute (1/3 typical PA highway rough surface miles, 2/3 curvy southeastern PA state road miles with plenty of Amish Buggy passings), plus heavy urban traffic. Wow, what a vehicle! I could spend all day in the LC, either behind the wheel or as a passenger. My wife has the same sentiments, and she is extremely happy going the LC route.

Next weekend we plan to start a low key exploration of unpaved roads and state forest roads. Again, not something I ever considered something I would want to do.

Side note 1: We debated Wind Chill Pearl vs Meteor Shower, with the key driver being finding a discounted '24. After seeing the WCP in various light conditions over the last two days we are super happy going with WCP and pleasantly surprised at how it varies moment to moment, e.g., white, silver, in between.

Side note 2: I learned to drive on my dad's '84 Ford Bronco, manual. And then many hunting destinations via PA state forest/game land roads in his various Ford trucks over three decades. But the off road truck thing never resonated for me. I wish he was still alive to venture out in the LC on some of those same PA state forest and game land roads.

Greetings and Happy New Year from Maryland!
I have been a 2 Door Jeep Owner for several years (2 JK's 1 JL). Before that was a 3rd Gen 4 Runner. I decided to get a 4 door sometime last year and was looking at Jeep's, Bronco's & even Subaru's. When the 250 came out, I stopped looking. I pulled the trigger late last year and even though its not a Jeep- I am mostly happy with her.

I am thinking I would like to upgrade to Bilstein coil overs to level and stiffen up the corners. A running board or sliders to help my short girlfriend out a bit. The Westcott roof rack seems to be the least amount of wind noise so far. And bully bar with perhaps some extra lights. I would like to upgrade the interior lights and find a custom Bluetooth compatible speaker that I can mount in the tailgate too.

I didn't realize the extra wiring that came with the LC and FE models.. I might have went with a higher trim level If I had.

Biggest complaint is for sure would be the electronics. Part of it I can accept as learning a new language coming from Jeeps UConnect, but not being able to ack/clear reoccurring alerts / notices, car play navigation is not only slow but also is not customizable. I don't use amazon or apple music, why can't I remove from my source/mode button? Why can't I see what is playing on the radio and my Navigation at the same time? I wouldn't mind them there if the system would let me click thru- but it wants to sign up/in every time. LEDs headlamps don't melt or shed snow very well, so the big hit we got last week, blacked out my headlights with in 20mins. Braking took a bit to get used to, a lot heavier then a 2door I expected more out of those larger rotors. No Aux power when she is turned off, and no delay in powering down music or lights when turning off.

I am hoping a firmware update or After market multimedia tune soon...

I do like a lot about her don't get me wrong. I can fit 5 adults in with gear. I snowboard and and ride bicycles, my gear and friends can both fit at the same time. 0-60 is ok, but passing someone at 60-85+ is amazing. I would have to think about that 3times in the jeeps before I overtook someone on a 2 lane road. MPG used to be good before I put the new tires on :)

The Toad just has Trail Hunters with Geolander-33's and rubber mats for now... more to come.

Hello! Also new to LC Forum....Recently bought a 2024 1958.....love all of the manual bits and fabric upholstery on it that hopefully won't cause any problems for many years to come. Also own a 1996 RHD KZJ95 Prado with the 1KZTE diesel turbo intercooled engine. Lots of them in Sydney when we were there recently, but they're kind of unicorns here. Originally bought that to have something to have fun with while I waited for the LC250 or new 4Runners to come in and for prices to come down a bit. That happened, so the 1996 will be being sold soon, if anyone is interested. My first was a 1998 4Runner, sold when I bought a 2005 4Runner. I still have regrets on that. Hoping the 2024 is as reliable as all of my prior Toyotas!

Hi all, first time new LC owner and new to the forum! Picked up the new ride on Saturday and just found this forum for all things LC. Replacing a Jeep 4xe with a LC 1958, great to see a vibrant community with LC as well, that was a deciding factor in my decision. Hopefully I will start a build thread as I now have new tires, a small leveling kit and set of side steps on order as of today.

First time owner of a Land Cruiser here. Owned two "off road" type edition Silverados, decided to trade my previous one in for the new LC. LC has always been that car i've always wanted but could never find. Happy to be here. 🤝

I’ve been a long-time Jeep driver… I started with a 1986 Cj7 in High School, I graduated in 92 so I’m not THAT old, I picked it up from a literal “little old lady” and fixed it up. Me and my friends would cruise around town in it with the top and doors off. I still remember the sound of the tires when the doors are off, the greatest sound ever, like freedom. When college came up I needed money and sold it. Just after college, I was back in a leased Jeep, and when that ran out I purchased a Jeep TJ. I still remember the look on our son’s face when we rode with the top off the first time, he thought it was so cool! When my wife went to graduate school I traded in my TJ and took over her Jeep Liberty, it was bigger for hauling the family and could tow our camper. In 2011 while camping the transmission blew on the Liberty. We had taken good care of it so we had it fixed. Then 3 months later a rod dropped into the combustion chamber and blew through the sidewall of the engine. I had just paid off the trany so we had a new engine block installed. And then a few months later we noticed an issue and were told the front and rear diff were going and it would be another $7500 to fix… so we finally bailed. I still liked the Wrangler and bought a new 2012 Rubicon Unlimited in flame red… I did buy a lifetime warranty that time! Over the years I had little things, like the shift knob came off, which the warranty didn’t cover. The door hinges rusted early on. The paint wore in various places just from driving. The water cooler failed and my mechanic wasn’t fully “certified” so the warranty didn't cover it. The clutch was starting to make a noise but even though the warranty would cover it, there was a $1000 part that was not covered. The vehicle lasted till this December (12 yrs), but there were lots of little issues. And when traveling we rented a Wrangler and had the death wobble while on the freeway. I was done with Jeep. I wanted something that towed more than 3500 lbs and started looking into the 4Runner. While test-driving a used one we saw the Land Cruiser. After driving both I really like the LC and finally traded my “Ruby” for a new 1958.

When driving to trade in the Jeep I was a little sad… I realized that may be the last time I drive a stick. We found our dream home with her, we drove out west, camped, kayaked, got through many snow storms, I switched jobs and eventually started a solo career with her. Even with the small annoyances, she got me where I needed to go, but it was time.

I’m only 1000 miles in so far but really love the ride of the LC250. LOVE the heated seats during the winter. Now I’m here to see what mods others are doing. I plan to add some better cargo area lighting (definitely a weakness), down the road add some bigger more aggressive tires, a roof rack for our kayaks, and my wife said “You should get that ladder, it looks cool” so the mods will come. But for now, I’m just burning off the new car smell,
Cheers!
