is anyone running upper control arms on their LC yet? I'm looking to get a set for when I install the coilovers on mine. I see Icon has two different UCA and Total Chaos has a set. Wondering about recommendations? I would like to go with superpro or bilstein but haven't seen anything by them yet. I spoke with my superpro rep and said the LC UCA will be out at some point but not sure when...

I’ve read you don’t really need them for alignment purposes on this platform with like a 2.5” lift, but I’m not sure if it’ll give you a little more downtravel. I’m all ears as to what is currently limiting down travel (UCA vs shock length vs LCA)

UCA choice is all in what you value/need. As most aftermarket UCAs will offer different levels of; arm strength, joint articulation and/or caster adjustment. Decide what your needs are, how often you'd like to service the joints, and go from there. Uniballs will offer more joint articulation but will require more servicing, cleaning, and replacement.

I've ran SPC and uniball style UCAs in the past but for this platform I'm running JBA UCAs. They offer painless servicing at the UCA bolt and ball joint with zerk fittings, and have built in caster to accommodate a 1-3.5 inch lift making bringing my alignment specs to an acceptable value that much easier. Another benefit is that replacement of the ball joints are quite easy as well.

Total Chaos uses polyurethane bushings or heim joints while ICON only has heim joints. Heim joints are metal on metal. Super strong but wear out faster and become noisy and loose with time. Had the ICON Stage 7 setup on my 4Runner and if I were to do it again I would probably go with the bushings. I'm not rock crawling so I don't see the need for heim joints for my personal needs. My two sats.
