Switching between CarPlay and Sirius XM. Gotta be a better way.

I've never used Sirius until now. I thought there would be an app that guided to interesting shows. I don't see how they compete with simple podcasts unless the listener is a big Howard Stern fan.

Starlink roam is $600 plus $50/month when used. It's use when moving with the $50 plan probably won't be allowed permanently, but even so it has so much more potential use than a Sirius subscription.

I purchased a starlink mount for the inside of the moonroof. With our fancy inverter system powering starlink is convenient. Although our UBC-C plugs don't have the watts to be used for that purpose.
Can you link the mount you are using? I'm about to pull the trigger on the Starlink Mini.

I haven't tested it in extended use, but the signal is good through the sunroof glass.

Starlink mini also fits between the sunroof shade and glass without any mount. I may use it that way when staionary, but I'm not comfortable with it jiggling around in that space during extended use.

Mini probably also works sitting on the dash.

The way I will use the mini is with the phone on the wired carplay connection and then connected by wifi to starlink.

Late to the party but there is a fourth way to do it and it's my preferred method. Navigate to the music display on your digital dash and press OK button to scroll through the different audio modes. It's easier than repeatedly pressing the mode button, especially since I usually leave the music display option on my dash.

No. I don't have an expansion arrow top left. When the car settings menu is on the screen, I can see the CarPlay icon at top left, and when I click that and launch CarPlay, there are no clickable areas at the top left.
Seems this is available * somehow * on the LC as well…I just cannot figure out how to keep the Toyota stuff on the sidebar.

I've resorted to this method as well, and it does work the best for quickly switching, my only problem is that while the radio will switch over, the display still shows my Android Auto screen, so I still have to click away on the touchscreen if I want to view the radio/SiriusXM interface on the infotainment screen.

The firmware for the media unit might need to be updated. Lemme find the thread on how to do that...
There was another thread about this "feature" that was active recently... to summarize it briefly...

- this feature of being able to still view the Toyota infotainment sidebar menu is only available with CarPlay, not Android Auto

- While some users of newer vehicles have confirmed that they have the sidebar menu present when using carplay, folks with existing vehicles don't seem to have any updates available to make this feature present. (unless that's changed since I last viewed the topic)

The easiest way to switch between the media sources is to use the "mode" button on the steering wheel and the side arrows will move between stations and tracks.

I have a streaming enhancement on my existing Sirius XM subscription which allows me to use the app that shows up on the Carplay interface.

It's all so confusing. I wish this was frictionless.

I have the expansion arrow on my GX and LX, but it hasn't shown up on my LC yet despite having been through various updates.

Happy listening.

i wish there was an easy way to scroll through channels on SXM. i'm forced to save the ones i listen to most as favorites, and that's fine, but it's a few screen presses to get to the option of just being able to go channel up/channel down if you just want to scroll through what's playing.

also with android auto, it's streaming SXM through my phone vs using the subscription on the vehicle i believe. i could be wrong

I was hoping there was a way to rearrange the app/source order, but hadn't investigated it much yet. Guess not 🤦‍♂️

Technically, it should be the same subscription, but yes, it would be using cellular data and streaming vs using the car stereo receiver.

I rearranged the app positions on my iPhone (not the TOYOTA app)

General/CarPlay/Toyota Land Cruiser/Customize

You can move the app up/down to suit your needs. I moved the "Toyota" app to the bottom/Left of the infotainment screen, worked best for me.

Ah good to know, thanks

This would be the same update that you would get over the air, OTA. You could go into your head unit, I don’t remember where, and force a check or an update

I have an PM in to Eric to see if it is possible to force an update from the 2025 LC into our 2024 system. Probably have to be accomplished by the dealer if it's even possible.
