Greetings, Friends and fellow Enthusiasts!
I just traded-in my beloved 2013 Trails Edition FJ Cruiser for an almost new 2024 LC FE (3900 miles on it). I thought it was time to get a little better everyday driver that was still capable of the off road adventures that I enjoyed with the FJ. I live in Central Texas, just north of Austin. I'm looking forward to learning and contributing to the forum as well as adding mods to my LC as the need/want arises.
Blessings, all.

welcome fellow Toyota enthusiast!

I made a similar trade! I drove the FJ to Austin for the eclipse last year. The Land Cruiser is a much nicer road trip vehicle. And in my limited experience so far, quite good offroad.

Thanks for the encouraging feedback regarding trading the FJ for the LC. I got a Trail Dust LC as well. Definitely more luxurious than the old FJ.
I'm also still trying to read through all of the electronic options- not like the analog FJ...
I'm anxious to get it off road as well.
BTW- I got nervous about the threat of cloud cover for the eclipse in Texas and drove to Arkansas. I hope you were able to catch most of it still in the Austin area.
Here's a composite of the eclipse I made from all of the shots I took.
Cheers.
Terry

I certainly considered keeping both the FJ and getting the LC, but my wife already has a Sequoia plus a Tacoma for hauling large items.
So, four vehicles for just two people seemed a bit much. Would have been nice though...
Thanks,
Terry

On a similar journey. Got one of the FJs into the US in '06. Loved it - it went anywhere. Then got a used 5th gen 4Runner. Lifted it, put 100K on it - it was a tank, went anywhere. Recently picked up a used LC-FE. Jurys still out. It's apples and oranges to the previous. Good luck, look forward to following your journey.

Agreed, apples vs oranges comparing FJ to LC thus far. The LC is hopefully a great platform to modify if/when needed for more aggressive off roading in the future, but it sure rides well as a daily driver.
Cheers to the journey!

We were just in a similar situation upgrading from a 2007 FJ to a 2025 LC 1958. The toyota dealer would NOT give us the FJ as a trade in. It had so much cosmetic body damage from years of love/abuse that the dealer said it'd be too expensive to restore and resell. So, we kept it. Now, fortunately, we have both!

It's ironic that you intended to trade in your FJ but weren't allowed to do so. It sounds like a sign that you were meant to keep it. : )
Having some cosmetic damage on a FJ is like having some scars on your body from really cool adventures. You get to relive those memories every time you see them.
Cheers.

I kept my FJ and just bought the LC. I wasn't going to get much for my old girl anyway, she is an 07 from western NY with nearly 250K on her. So now she sits in my garage waiting for the summer. You're going to love the LC!

My wife's prior Sequoia had 275K on it. Sold it to a family for their teenagers to use and abuse.
My 2013 FJ was still in good condition, which made it a great trade-in but made it harder to want to give it up.
No regrets at this point. Looking forward to getting a few big trips with the LC once the weather starts to warm up, which may just be a few weeks here in Texas. We hit 80 this week but back into the 30-50 range now. NY may have to wait a bit longer. It will be beautiful up there though later this year.

Same with mine. I hadn’t driven it enough so it was pretty low miles and mostly great condition. (It was my second FJ, I put a lot more miles on the first one.) With that it being a special edition, I sold it for nearly what I bought it for. But knowing what I could sell it for was how I talked myself into the Land Cruiser!

I did the same thing. Traded my beloved '13 FJ for a LC FE. Like going from a rotary phone to a brand new iphone. I watched a lot of YouTube vids before trying to understand the Owner's Manual (s) which helped a great deal. Love my LC! But still feel a twinge when I see an FJ. Especially if it's Magma!

Yes. I keep reminding myself of all of the really cool and functional additions that the LC has that were absent on the FJ. Just having good visibility in the cabin is a starter! I'm sure we'll be happy with the trade once we work through all of the grief stages... : )

Oh, wow. That's painful to look at. I hope no one was seriously injured. Looks like an awesome rig you had. I trust your LC journey will go much smoother!
Blessings,
Terry
