Anyone have any insight into the process of these getting to their respective dealers once they arrive at port? Spoke w/my dealer and he couldn't give me anything concrete as to when it may get to them. It's been there for a bit over a month. Thanks!

I was told today my 25 arrived at the port and I may have it by this weekend.

Toyota was able to provide my dealership a schedule from build completion in Japan to arrival at the dealership, and it was accurate to the day (about 6 weeks total time). Sounds to me like your dealership may have other ideas for the Land Cruiser you wanted, or the port facility is backlogged for installing accessories prior to delivery.

What does 'other ideas' mean, given that I've delivered a deposit against an order I did?

It was about 2 weeks once delivered to port to arrive to the dealer. I did specifically ask my dealer if it was on QC hold (those are the hold ups for port installed accessories). They said no.

Most manufactures can do this. When I had my Mini built about a decade or more ago, I could track it from scheduling, to build, then shipment by vessel, to port to dealer. My Jeep was somewhat the same. Scheduling, build, then transport to dealer. I would suggest your dealer doesn't know how to get this info, are too lazy to track it, or may try to sell your vehicle at a higher margin. Did you get a VIN? I got a build sheet with a VIN from my dealer as soon as my LC was produced.

I subscribe to the dealer conspiracy theory here. I have a VIN on my deposit but my dealer always says “we might have more info in a few weeks” whenever I ask.

I’ve ordered cars before and I know they can track a vehicle’s position to the fraction of a day. You learn how to do that when you’re shipping units of product valued at $75K and above each. If anything happens you damn well want to be aware of last known position.

So 100% the ability is there. They don’t tell us because they want to keep their options wide open. Worst that could happen to them is they sold your car to someone else and have to return your deposit. Much more likely is that they “accidentally” sell someone else your car and then also sell you another one.

My VIN - the one I supposedly have a deposit on - shows as inventory at three different dealerships right now, so prove to me they aren’t shopping a better buyer for it.

My salesguy texted me that mine went from build phase to waiting at port on 11/22.

Toyota.com shows the same, expected delivery between 12/1 - 1/8

Go to toyota.com
Click inventory
Click Land Cruiser
Then refine the search to where your dealer is and it should bring up a list of LC that are in inventory or in production/transit.

I wouldn’t always assume that the inventory listing at Toyota.com is overly precise. If I recall correctly, there is some qualifying language at the site that warns you of potential inaccuracies.

I agree, the wording is somewhat vague.
In my case the salesman gave me the same info as toyota did on the same day...always looking on the positive side when it comes to a package this big. Lol

I cross checked the VIN from my dealer against Toyota.com. My info lined up exactly.

After I took delivery of my 1958, it took a number of days for the unit to be deleted from the “in stock” inventory at my dealer per Toyota.com

Ah, thanks. I was hoping for granularity of info there like “at port” or “in transit” or whatever. My VIN still shows as inventory incoming at a dealer not the one I ordered it from. Same dealer network but different city. Not confidence inspiring.

Mine had a Quality hold at port for about 3 weeks. they weren't able to provide me any details on what the hold was for. Just got a text from my dealer that it was released from port. After that it took about another week to get to Colorado from Cali. picked it up on OCT 31st.
