I have rock rails waiting for me to install them after I take off the running boards, and I'd kind of like to put lights of some sort under them that use the plug that powers the light on the running boards. Questions:
  • Anyone know the PN for the plug on the running board side, or even the entire light assembly on the running board side?
  • If I don't use the Toyota running board light, I was thinking some kind of strip/long light, but I want it low brightness, just to light the ground under the doors. And they'd need to work on the same (presumably 12V) power and be dimmable. If anyone knows of good candidates for this let me know. Mostly I'm finding generic strips that need an extra power supply, or rock lights which seem likely to be too bright.
Also if there's any in the SF Bay area who wants to buy som running boards, hopefully mine will be off and ready to sell by the end of the month.

Did you ever figure this out? I am trying to release the lights connector to the running boards to install my rails.

I installed the rails and kept the wire harnesses/lights zip tied up underneath to where they still shine down on the ground when the doors are open. I ordered several parts people said would work to plug the wire harness after removal in order to protect it and none of them worked. Dealerships were of no help at all.

The parts needed to blank off the plug are in the first pic, ordered from CorsaTechnic, Search Results .

The magnetic lights in my pics are from Lux Lighting systems, I used two per side and I wired them into the dome lamp to get full brightness as the OEM harness has +12VDC and variable +9VDC to +3VDC on the ground. There is a pass through under both the drivers and passengers seat to right where the connector is and runs up just under the front outside seat rail on either side. If you type in the Sumitomo part number of TS025-3P at CorsaTechnic it will show a photo. You can see on the top of the plug there is a locking tab, press that to release and pull. Some of them can be quite difficult and I use a set of slip joint needle nose pliers to hold it depressed while separating. You can also lift it up towards the middle with a jewelers screwdriver or similar to hold it an a release position.

There's a whole thread on here somewhere where some folks figured it out. I haven't had time to get back to it.
