Rear spare mount: GoRhino Hitch mount

Interesting. Super value oriented. Was considering the Rig’d or Dirtcom but this is less than half of either. FWIW, the Dirtcom crew sent me this pic of theirs fitted on a 250. I do like how tight to the body it appears to be. Some stick out ridiculously far.

That looks good. One of the drawbacks of the Rhino is lack of the additional hitch

Do any of these mounts all you to open the rear glass without swinging out the tire?

I doubt it. At least for me, the glass won't open. I'm mounting a 35" Nitto Ridge Grappler back there.

This would be a good way to carry extra fuel!

I think you can, actually. Dirtcom has a lot of adjustability and in the lowest position, the rear glass might be able to open with a 35” tire.

That’s my use case as well. 35” won’t fit in stock location and don’t need full replacement bumper.

Downside is the high quality hitch tire carriers are $$$.

I guess with mounts like this one can forget about parking sensors and backup camera? I was eyeballing some for a while and I guess normal flow would be mounting the thing when you go for an adventure and keeping it in a remote garage corner on the days when you need to drop off kids at school and do grocery shopping.

That's my use case...use it on camping trips and then I can also hang my trail bag from it. I can't fit in the garage if I leave it on.

If you search: temu receiver spare tire carrier

there is a swingout model that is $225 delivered. I have it and it looks well made, but I will test the welds before travel.

Most of these carriers offered in North America are simply resold Chinese products with a large markup. But the price of the GoRhino product above isn't terrible.

A swing down carrier probably preserves the sensors function in the bumper

This one is interesting, although I've never seen it:

Minimum affect because of raised and angled cut (choose “standard” version for “best” departure angle)
The “straight” and “extended” versions are not that good in departure angle.

Here's some photos of my dirtcom carrier

No issues with window clearance, and I've got a 12.5in wide tire on there

Heres a side shot of the hitch clearance
