No roof rack.

On the ground or during flight?
Seems to be the same whether parked in the garage, in the city, on the highway, or in flight.

I was lucky I guess as I visited a dealer that had exactly what I wanted in the lot due to a cancelation. Before I went to the dealers I did look online and there were a number of non Calgary dealers that were offering at MSRP. I went to the largest south Calgary dealer with the tower and test drove one and when I said I wanted to buy they opened at $12,500 over list and I walked.

I have had excellent service and buying experience at Canyon Creek.

I have a stripped roof 1958 but I have added gamiviti towers and Alu cab rails for the ski season. ( and for summer canoes) There is wind fluttering noise without the ski box but mileage has only dropped marginally with blizzaks and the rack. 10.5 lph to 11.1 lph city.

I don’t get the full time full racks but roof racks rule in terms of providing more flexibility.
Thanks for the info! I've had my deposit in at an out of city dealer since the very beginning, thinking I'd side-step the long waiting lists, but unfortunately didn't account for the drastically fewer deliveries they'd receive. Found the exact one I'd been waiting for at a dealer in Edmonton, but literally just as I'd texted the salesman back to accept the final terms, he told me another salesman came into the sales office with a deposit in hand.

What was initially a sinking feeling in my gut, turned into a positive. He told me that they have the same one, in a 2025 version slated for delivery 3rd week of December and gave ot to me at the same price, which works out to about $100 under MSRP with the 2025 price increase. I just got back this morning from buying winter tires for it, and now the anxious wait continues, but at least with a confirmed "in transit" ETA. Just hoping the port strikes don't keep me hanging now!

Oh...and yeah, I want the roof rails for skis as well. Maybe a Thule box for winter.

I may be in the minority, however, I like the appearance of a roof rack on any SUV. Adds a rugged appearance. However, I like the old school appearance of Land Cruiser / Land Rover.

In fact, I am adding Thule cross bars to add an additional layer of rack.

However, I would never actually my roof rack as I don't want to get it dirty....
Yea. I get that. But at my age, there’s not a lot of ‘ruggedness’ left in me. I rather have a quiet ride, and better fuel economy.

Are there specific parts and part numbers for the FE rack delete? I like the look of no rack as well but don't want holes and gaps up top. Keep us posted on parts needed for this.
They have been posted somewhere on this forum before. But I would have no idea where… 🤔

Edit: See EOD Guys post in this thread..

I removed the cross bars but kept the side rails so I can pull myself up, and step on the rear tire so I can wipe the roof after I wash it!

I don’t car camp, but I would like to try it one day. My rifles and other gear fit inside. I guess keeping the rails is largely hobby-dependent.
I have a roof rack, because i got a "premium" package. Did removing the cross bars reduce the wind noise significantly?

Is this what you're looking for

Folks should also look at the delete kits for the 4Runner and Rav4 because they look nearly identical to the Land Cruiser kit at a fraction of the cost. Figured someone would've tried them by now. You'd just need to buy two kits to account for the six roof rail covers/brackets on the LC vice four on the others.

Yes, the Wingbar Evo bars were the ones I was considering. Yours looks great. Is there any issue with fitting them correctly?

How is the wind noise?

Wind noise is there, but minimal and only above 65mph. Have to imagine it's less than with the big overland racks like Prinsu, etc. Zero issues getting them fitted correctly because 53" bars are what Thule recommends and the Crossroads 450R foot pack with the rubber coated steel straps are essentially universal for raised crossbars. You can get all this stuff on FB Marketplace for dirt cheap. I'm only planning to throw crossbars on for ski trips, otherwise it all stays in my shed.

Did you consider the 50" bars as well? Would be flush with the sides and perhaps even less wind noise?

No, I just went for 53". I considered 60" too but couldn't find any locally for a good deal.

I ended up with 57” (1450mm) which is a little wider than the gutter. I used the two middle mounting points not the most rearward.

I have a packasport box that I was intending to use but the rear spoiler makes rear access pretty much impossible due to the reach over. I also added Greenlane Offroad flared side steps replacing the factory running boards for better roof box access. All we need now is more snow.

Unfortunately EOD post only shows the trim pieces and does not include the rubber grommets are plastic bolts to seal the holes. I have not been able to find the delete kit part number and my dealer doesn’t know.

This is what is stock on a non roof rail 1958. I used simple sealing washers and silicon when I installed my towers. You will note the white plastic tubes that stand proud of the roof gutter. I had to slightly enlarge the sealing washer hole to fit over them, hence a little silicone as well. It's a pretty silly system as the plastic piece in the first picture simply caps the rubber gutter rail inserts. I left the rubber insert out between the two towers. I may glue is back, I but I would need to trim it a little bit first. The third picture shows the attached tower base - you can see the stainless sealing washers underneath the base. My inclination is to simplify a plate over the rubber ends that one simply bolts through rather than the bolted on wire clip and the plastic snap on cover that attaches to it.

Does anyone have a photo of a LC without a roof rack ? I have slight wind noise…. But not really noticeable. I do agree, I may NEVER use these but I like how they look.

Anyone with any real mileage numbers after removing your roof rack? Also did you notice any big difference in wind noise?

Many have reported the roof rack substantially increases wind noise, and of course affects fuel economy a tad. Would it be an issue in some car washes? Not for me...
I am disappointed with mine...the noise is not so bad but the rail mountings are fixed and too close for carrying long loads, eg a kayak. Also the tailgate fouls the long load so cannot open. Not sure about the fuel economy hit.
