I've been back twice and they tell me that they are all registered into the car as verified by OBD-II connection and the display says "setting tire position while driving" and they tell me to drive around some and they will register their position and start working. Never does. They tried a different setup tool and same results.

I believe others have used the Autel sensors with success and I thought I understood them to be a quality choice.

Any thought on what may be going on? The tire shop gave me the option of changing to Toyota OEM sensors and they would take the Autels back and eat the labor to unmount/remount/balance the tires. I hate to do this if not necessary.

My other option is to go to dealer and see if they can make them register.

Thoughts?

If the tire place is willing to eat the labor ask if they would still do it if you don’t purchase more sensors, and go without sensors. If you take it to the dealer they may tell you they can’t just to try to sell you OEM sensors. I would try to work it out with the tire shop, it sounds like they are willing to help you out. Unless it’s VIP.

TIre shop definitely wants to help. They will give me credit for the Autels and I would pay for the OEMs and I would pay nothing for mount and balance. This is an option but maybe there is a trick or some easier way to get them to work.

I take a risk of them scratching a wheel or etc with that option too (not that it matters much since I will be wheeling with them)

Yeah now that the sensors are mounted in the tires I would want to try to make them work also. How long have you driven around with them? It may take a couple hundred miles. Honestly I have zero experience with this. I opted not to put sensors in my winter setup. Tell the tire shop you’re going to try it for a week to see if they will eventually register and that will give you some time to research the subject and decide what you want to do.

I did add a second set of wheels and sensors recently, albeit with Toyota TPMS sensors, took about 200km of highway driving before they finally registered past the “Setting Tire Position” message
