Climate Control Questions

Hey Folks,

I tried searching for this, but nothing cropped up.

I've noticed that my LC LC Climate Control is not working as I expected. I have had a few other cars with "Automatic" settings for temperature, so it's not all new territory.

In hot weather, it seems like the AC isn't effective at getting the temperature down. My previous cars with "Auto" settings were both two-seaters, so maybe it's just that a full-size vehicle has a more difficult challenge... or maybe it's because I have the truck set in Eco drive mode and it's saving gas by not working hard... or?

And, now that it's colder here, I'm finding that there's a different problem. There's no trouble keeping it warm, but the vent air is always too warm. So, even the cabin is generally comfortable I feel like have a weak hairdryer blowing at me, even when I lower the setting to 68.

In my other vehicles the temperature of the air from the vents kinda matches my desired cabin temp and I am wondering if there's something I could change about my settings to address these. Or maybe I need to get something fixed....

Is anyone else having similar issues?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hmmm.... does that mean it might be disabled in some setting deeper in the menus? I have been reading through the manual and it seems to indicate that all you need is the "Auto" button. Thanks!

I have noticed that the AC system does not work as effectively on ECO as it does on NORMAL, or SPORT modes. I'll drive in SPORT mode during the heat of the summer.

Do you have the rear vents turned on? That might make a difference, lots of cubic feet in these big boxes. Also check the more detailed climate controls from the touch screen

In options make sure that eco mode is not enabled

I don't know what the auto does in this application specifically, but make sure the rear vent is functioning. Otherwise it functions like any other econobox with no rear vents, where the rear part of the cabin acts as a heatsink and makes it almost impossible to get the temp where you like.

The 250 will definitely regulate AC to help with gas mileage. There's an AC Eco mode that can be manually enabled or is automatically enabled when you put the drive mode in ECO. It also automatically disables the back vents if it doesn't detect any rear passengers when you start the car up.

As others have said if you’re in Eco the A/C is disappointing, but in the other settings it’s been fantastic for me. I’m not sure I’ve owned a car that cooled itself off quicker. Go into the settings screen and find climate control and make sure everything is set the way you’d like. It also helps to have the rear climate on as well to get cool air flowing throughout the vehicle.

For heating, I’ve had similar complaints where it almost gets too warm. My solution has just been to bump the temperature down to 65 or lower for a couple minutes, cool myself off and then when I turn it back to 69 it’s very comfortable.

Thanks for all the input, folks! It sounds like my experience is more-or-less typical. I wanted to make sure there was not some issue I needed to take to the Service folks at Toyota.

Eco off, rear on, manual fan setting if needed.

Ceramic tint helps. I also keep reflectix on driver side back door window and both rear side windows.
