New LC 2025 Owner-MPG question/concern

I was getting 25 mpg with stock tires and went to BFG KO3 10 ply and went down to 21 mpg. Tires same size as originals 275/ 70/18. My driving is fairly level at 4100 feet elevation.

I get 21.x+ mpg consistently using cruise control @70+ mph. Tried one tank of Costco regular and saw no difference in mpg. Went back to premium per Toyota's recommendation.

Greetings from Maine! I'm three weeks into owning my LC Base with the Premium package with 20" wheels. Driving here is a combo of highway, where I try to use the cruise control as much as possible, and hilly, winding backroads. With the stock Yokohama Geolanders I barely got above 20 mpg in the first 1.5 weeks. Since I switched to Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws last week, I've been getting low 19 mpg. Think the 25 claim is from rolling road testing - with a tailwind?

I have been using adaptive cruise control frequently the last few days and noticed a considerable improvement in fuel economy (especially on city roads). Toyota is more efficient at accelerating than I am.

I have stock 20” wheel and tire set up.

Headwinds and tailwinds, especially brisk ones, have a huge effect on fuel economy.. DAMHIKT

Here is what you can expect:

Highway speeds over 75MPH you are going to get about 16-17mpg

City driving with lots of start and stop you are going to get about 18-19mpg

Flat country road driving between 35-55mph with few stops you are going to get about 24-25mpg

Your MPG will skew accordingly.

Take 2 mpg off for larger tire size and more negative offset.

Take 1-2 mpg off if you are extremely heavy footed.

These numbers will be after about 1000 miles. Initial break in will be slightly worse.

After breakin if you are mostly city driving with a few highway trips and throw in some causal rural drives you will probably be around 19 MPG

17.3 MPG here in San Francisco. Majority is stop and go. LC is all stock with 20" oem wheels/tires + OEM roof rack. Also that is with me driving "slow".

I have passed 13,000 miles on my stock Land Cruiser base, premium package with 20" wheels. The first 6K was all around the US and the second 6K was local driving and interstate from northern Virginia to the southwest VA mountains. I am still at 20.4 mpg overall. My description of the first 6K and driving style is here: 6K Mile Review

Did a 4-day road trip from LA to SF and got ~20 mpg. Had to fill up half a tank with 87 octane too due to availability and didn't notice anything different. Riding on stock 20s. LC premium. 4k miles.

Pretty impressed considering it's as aerodynamic as a brick.

I'm guessing the tire upgrade is an LT tire which will take 2 mpg off.
I put on 285/70r18 terra grapplers SL rating which are about 7-8 lbs heavier than stock Michelins and I lost a little over 1 mpg going from 20 to 19. If I take off faster at lights I lose another 1, and if there are a lot of lights I lose 2.

Was also thinking about the FE added bits; sliders, skid plate and roof rack and thinking those must affect MPG to some degree, but who knows?

Almost 3000 miles in and have a MPG question: Currently averaging 18.7 MPG-doesn’t seem to matter what mode I am using and every time I fill up, the range in 296 miles. I am have used 89/91/93 octane gas-no change tank to tank in mpg or range. My LC model is the standard with premium package, full skid plates package and 18” wheels with the Nitto tire upgrade. Any thoughts given my window decal said, 20/23 Combo/25? Thanks in advance for any guidance. Would be thrilled to get my range to 350+.
I think it’s the tire upgrade are you heavy on the gas pedal?

The 285’s fit stock with no rub?

I think it has been said that the ‘Air Dam’ on the roof of the First Edition trucks prolly takes 2 mpg, but I don’t know that for sure.

Some FE owners have taken their Air Dam off their truck. It would be nice if they chimed in with any noted MPG increases.
