New from UK

Does everyone that has a VIN number have a K as 11th character meaning as I understand it that the LC was built in the Hino Motors plant in Hamura - not had a Toyota but other folk seem to get excited about the Tahara factory that seems to have the top reputation for quality

As long as it is well made and the Quality Control is to Toyota standards it will be ok I’m sure

Me too K for 11th

Sad admission - I watched that YouTube with the guy doing a factory visit - I have been to a few car factories in different countries inc super car places in Italy - the Tahara was impressive but they didn’t show the other places to offer a comparison - long way from the smoking area in the Maserati factory 😀😀😀

I was quoted today £1592.88 inc *£972.00 labour for a tow bar complete !!!!! from my Dealer this is getting out of hand so I called Toyota UK to as what comes with these cars as I have paid for my LC in full yesterday

That’s ridiculous, you could have a towbar specialist fit one for a fraction of that.
I previously mentioned that my dealer thought it might be £1500 initially but agreed to do it for £800 and that options list posted showed an even lower price.
To be fair, the dealers aren’t being told anything by Toyota so it’s all guesswork.

Were you picking up a nice new trident badged car??? I have just sold a mint MC Stradale after 7 years of smiles!!

At least it shouldn’t be long now before you find out. We’re all awaiting your report back to us!

I will report asap maybe Thursday its hard to believe no one seems to know for sure about spec even the parts guy said theres a caviat and not garranteed spec ??

Yep - Top Gear in that pretty watchable you tube review (if you ignore the idiot presenter) was saying £65k and I had £70k as my marker price when i saw the US pricing but then I saw that they have set the First Edition at £79,995 which concerns me a little in terms of residuals

Ah well - if my insurers will cover it at a sensible price I will almost certainly proceed
This video convinced me that I was buying the new LC. After taking delivery of a U.S. spec FE, no regrets. This vehicle feels special.

Should have mine on current projections in around 3 weeks time - supposedly at dealer Fri 18 Oct so as away shooting that weekend looking to collect in the following week - hopefully the UK 2.8L diesel powered variant will make us all happy - Dave seems to be the first in line to collect one

Apperently mine has left the Derby plant should be at the Dealership , I have a feeling they will want it in the showroom for a bit ???

Getting close now, Dave’s even more so. Exciting times!
The 2.8L diesel is my only concern as it’s the same as the outgoing model and relative to the new Land Rover equivalent, it’s definitely a bit under-powered and noisy. That said, it’s a tried and tested Toyota engine so is bulletproof and will go on for ever.
Mine will arrive just in time for the close of the shooting season, so shouldn’t have sold my Dec ‘22 Land Cruiser in June but at the time, I thought the price was too good to turn down if the new ones were about to arrive. Anyway I’m enjoying running around in an immaculate 2004 Defender TD5 that I picked up as a stop gap but might well keep for ever now!

Agree Dave!!!

Hi All,

Brand new here - never used a forum before but wanted to jump in and say hi

Not read the full thread, but I’m due to take delivery of my First Edition (Sand) October 4th here in the South East

I did see some insurance questions crop up

Admiral/Churchill who I am with were clueless (as car not on all these insurance systems) and underwriters very unsure…

I called up Toyota Insurance UK and asked if the head of the team could reach out to their underwriters with the EXACT spec - I now have my quote locked in and it’s ready to activate on the 4th October so I can drive off

Give them a buzz if you need quotes and cover!

All the best,

Al

Bloody hell - I started this thread weeks ago and you solved one of my issues in your first post - well done - I am also with admiral and have been struggling with them and with Toyota trying to achieve exactly what you seem to have managed - getting underwriters to focus in this issue and make a coverage decision

Was Toyota offering a sensible price to cover ? If they will cover I will switch - mine will be collectible in 3 weeks

Given my age and an open non fault claim (waiting to be closed) I was bloody happy with the quote! Locked in straight away…happy to move insurer because of it

They’re insuring it based off of the £79,995 RRP
