I like your idea!! There is strength in numbers and when dealerships charge above MSRP, it is a bit offensive. However, IF a person wants a First Edition Land Cruiser, they may choose to pay a premium, since there are only 5,000 of them being made. I focus more on getting the most out of my trade by selling it to a private party. I can easily make up a few thousand dollars by doing so. I want a First Edition. My 1999 Land Cruiser is still on the road, and I am willing to pay an additional $2,500 to get the one I have been offered. Anyone buying cars in this price range probably won’t see much change in their lives by paying a bit over MSRP. I never borrow money to buy a new car, and this purchase will be no different. I plan to keep my First Edition for the next 10 years. Heck, I probably will be too old to drive much after that time period. Good luck to everyone on this forum who is trying to land a Land Cruiser. They are going to be awesome.
Dahl Toyota has been awesome to work with in my experience. I worked with Joe Hicks on a new Land Cruiser and he has done an exemplary job of keeping me informed and responding to my questions. In the end, I was offered a FE from another dealer, but, I would buy from Joe and Dahl in a heartbeat.Dahl is pretty small in comparison to the other dealers at least the Toyota group. They started across the River in La Crosse so pretty small market compared to the Cities. Supposedly Maplewood is the largest Toyota dealer in the State.
Thanks to this site I got on the Rochester Toyota list early, I am #2 on the list. MSRP with no markup. No deposit when I first called so I just called again and talked to them seeing how everyone else (except Dahl) you listed wants a $500 deposit. He said the way it works is once they get a LC allocated they will go down the list calling starting at the top with the specs of what they got allocated. If at that point I want it and Mr. #1 does not then they will take a $500 deposit to hold it. He said they have a pretty long list now.
10 years ago I wanted the Baja Tacoma when they first came out, there were 750 made that year. Looked on line checking inventory across the Country and they were sold out everywhere. After a couple weeks of banging my head against the wall drove to town (Rochester Toyota) and couldn't believe sitting on the showroom floor....
Yes I tried to turn a Taco into my 77 FJ55 Iron Pig with the logo on the grill LOL.
Fingers crossed that lighting will strike twice. Taco only has 90K on it now so just getting broken in. Just spent a week in Northern Ontario and 3 weeks in the tip of the Arrowhead grouse hunting and running 2 tracks and moose trails in it last month. So don't need the LC but I want. Likely keep the Taco as well so I too will not have a trade in either.

Purchased from Capitol Toyota in Salem, OR at MSRP. First sheet of numbers had a few bogus packages on it but they didn't press when I asked to see terms without them listed.
For anyone near The Dallas, OR there is a Heritage Blue First Edition available. When you call ask for Mike. He sold us our Tacoma and is a real class act!

Here are the ones I talked to in DFW for a heritage blue LC Premium
1. Longo Toyota Prosper - MSRP, but some dealer added options totaling about 3k. They have a waitlist. They didn't take a deposit from me because i've gotten several vehicles from them, but another person i know said they took a $500 deposit from him.
2. Toyota Grapevine - $10k markup, PLUS dealer adds. They have a few vehicles unallocated coming in. No deposit
3. Patt Lobb Toyota McKinner - MSRP Plus 5k in dealer adds. $500 deposit.
4. Toyota Irving - MSRP, and they have a $900 dealer added package with Tint and some other stuff. They charge a 5K markup for out of town buyers. No Deposit required, just a photo of your drivers license. This is the dealership I'm getting mine from, they have a Heritage Blue LC Premium arriving in July that has my name on it

Thanks for sharing. Family Toyota of Arlington is also a MSRP dealer but they have $1,299 dealer added packages.
Were you on the waitlist long for Toyota Irving before getting your allocation?
I saw a heritage blue LC premium with my almost exact desired options that was on the Toyota inventory site in the build phase. I called and asked if it was already sold, they said no, and I said I wanted it.
No waitlist, the whole process took maybe 30 min. They sent me a build sheet, I asked them to remove the markup and they did, and the salesperson said they’ll text me later this week with info on the eta and build process.
That's awesome. I have been checking the Toyota inventory site for a while now and i do see DFW dealers getting more allocations. Was there any Port Installed items added? Were you able to ask them to remove it? Gulf Sates dealers are notorious for adding port installs.
Yeah they added basically all of the port installed options - Cross bars, connectivity kit, Cargo net, premium floor mats, illuminated door sills, vehicle protection package, and the rear organizer. Granted, some of that was stuff I wanted anyways, and the others are easily removable or cheap enough that I don't care to ask them to remove it.

Dealers that are marking up:
- Toyota Walnut Creek: MSRP, waiting list requires a deposit, and it's long enough they don't expect to get through the list this year.
- One Toyota Oakland: MSRP, also has a waiting list and requires a deposit.
Dealers that are marking up:
- The infamous Dublin Toyota: $10k markup.
- Putnam Toyota: $10k markup for now, expect to drop to MSRP as some point.
- Autonation Toyota Hayward: $9k markup. (Said MSRP until they got an allocation, then demanded a markup.)
- Fremont Toyota: not selling at MSRP, I'm not sure exactly what the markup is, I haven't gotten a straight answer.
- Milpitas Toyota: TBD -- no markups listed on the web page, but they are kind of infamous for markups. A couple years ago between market adjustment, required add ons, and optional (but not really optional) add ons they had $25k markups on RAV4's. Maybe they've changed tactics?

For SF Bay Area, I would add Toyota 101 and Toyota Sunnyvale to the MSRP list. I have been on the wait list at Walnut Creek and One Toyota - One Toyota only has 33 people on the wait list as of last week but not a big fan of their sales staff, and if you have a trade in you are allowed to jump the line. If you are not already on a wait list at a bay area MSRP dealer, a good option is to just buy out of state - not too hard to find MSRP if you are willing to travel.
Huh, One Toyota didn't mention the trade in thing to me. But I'm doubtful a dealer will give me a reasonable trade in value for my 2014 TTUE FJ MT anyway. As long as Carvana is still in business, most dealers can't even beat their prices.
when I sold my Tacoma and Bronco, the dealer matched what Carvana was offering. That was also during the time of ridiculously inflated used car prices and vehicles that held their value, so I may have just gotten lucky.
Oh boy. Guys good luck finding msrp on True Car. The listings on site are misleading. Most show MSRP however when you get in contact with the dealer they’ll tell you there’s a markup. Shady tatics bros.

Add Downtown Toyota to the list. Bait and switch. Yes we have in stock and I said only interested in MSRP. They said come down. Had nothing andcwere preselling at the give me your highest price level. CYa Bye.
Is there any guesstimate as to when it will be possible to order an LC medium trim (non-Premium) without all the stupid port/dealer add-ons? (20" wheels, etc) All the dealers in California seem to be exclusively focusing on ordering the variants with the most add-ons possible -- literally the only thing in the Premium package that I kinda want is wireless charging (but a sunroof is something I actively do not want), and the idea of spending money for 20" wheels with worse rubber is nuts. (Basically debating as to whether I should try to get on a waitlist now or wait until supplies and high enough that I won't have to fight as hard to find a dealing willing to take my lower-profit order...)
Mountain States Toyota had some allocations for a LC trim with no premium package or options at MSRP last week. Those allocations are likely gone by now, but worth checking in with them if you are willing to take a road trip back from Denver.
