Compiling a list of all the rock sliders available on the market today (03/25/2025). Brand names with hyperlinks. If anyone has them installed and have an unbiased reviews on them, please share below in comments. Pictures of them on your vehicle would be great as well!

Info underneath each brand are response directly from their sales rep or from their website directly

Most brands don't list their weight total or if they can be used as jack point

Dissent Off-Road
-> "The slider set weighs just under 150 lbs total and yes they are a direct bolt on to the frame with no drilling required. You can use them as a jack point and they have slots for a hi lift jack as well." (Source: Dissent Sales Rep)

CAtuned Off-Road

C4 Fabrication (coming soon, no spec yet)

RCI Off-Road
-> 53lb per slider, 106 for the pair (Source: RCI sales rep)

DV8 Off-Road (They call it Side-Steps, not sliders)
-> "The OE plus steps for the 24+ Land Cruiser bolt directly to the body and were not designed to be a support point for jacks/jackstands." (Source: DV8 sales rep)

Greenlane Offroad
-> 24lbs per side, for a total of just under 50lbs for the pair with hardware. They mount fully to existing holes and do not require any modifications. They are rated to support the weight of the vehicle from both side and bottom obstacles, but we do not recommend using them as a jack point. (Source: Greenlane sales rep)

NYTOP
-> "They weigh about 80 lbs per side. And yes, they are direct bolt on, with factory threaded holes in the frame. Yes, they can support the full vehicle weight, and can be used as jacking points." (Source: NYTOP Sales rep)

CBI Off-Road
-> 58.5lbs per slider (117lb total) and these are directly bolted to the frame. The sliders can support the full weight of the vehicle if needed. (Source: CBI sales rep)

Victory4x4
-> Steel: 200lbs. Aluminum: 165lbs.
"Yes, they are full strength and can support the weight of the vehicle." (Source: Victory4x4 sales rep)

SLEE Off-Road

Westcott Designs
-> Sliders are about 57lbs per side (114 for the pair) and are direct bolt on. If you order the DOM/Tig configuration, you can use as a jack point. (Source: Json @ Westcott sales rep)

Thank you for compiling this list. As I was also reviewing options for my cruiser to replace the OEM running boards, your post here provides a good starting point to begin comparing brands. I thought it would be useful to create a table including information about each option to help folks determine which direction they might want to go.

Full disclosure - I used ChatGPT "deep research" along with links posted above and criteria I provided around various features to compile this table. Be sure to cross check the below information while doing your own research.

Install requires frame drilling (per user forum)

Notes: All prices are per pair of sliders. “Bolt-on” indicates no welding; some products still require minor drilling or hole enlargement as noted. Hi-Lift Jack? indicates whether the sliders can serve as a lifting point for a hi-lift jack. Lead times are as reported in early 2025 and are subject to change. Manufacturers not listing certain specs (weight, etc.) were supplemented with best available information (forum posts or vendor data) – such cases are indicated in the table

Great list for people to reference @Onyx & @EmeraldLC ! Something you may want to note, the DV8 steps are described by them as a side-step because don't bolt directly to the frame rail like the majority of frame sliders, they mount directly to the vehicle's body like any OEM running board or side-step. They should not be categorized as a rock slider or used in the same capacity as such, and I think their website also states this.

I left a review of the CATunedOffroad frame/rock sliders in a facebook group somewhere so I'll just copy paste it here; disclaimer though I am an ambassador for their 250 series products but I kept review as honest and unbiased as possible.

What I like about em below;
  • High-clearance: These sliders are bolted on high & tight directly to the vehicle’s body/frame, giving you more clearance and no awkward gap between the body and slider where you can see some paint / part of the frame like some of the other options.
  • Durability: Made from 3/16-inch steel plate and .095 DOM tubing, so they're very stout. The support rails and the way their mounted are seemingly very robust.
  • Corrosion-Resistant: Zinc-coated and powder-coated for long-lasting protection.
  • Bolt-On Installation: No-drill installation directly to existing oem frame points (however some trimming of the lower plastic is required for the high & tight mounting). There is no need to drill/rivet/& tap new mounting points.
  • Features a slight angle & kickout: They’re angled ever so slightly and have a small kickout. This is personal preference but I think they flow seamlessly to the vehicle’s body lines and the kickouts serve a functional purpose to push you away from any nasty boulders. They also stick out just enough to give you a good amount of door protection & reasonable step function in case you ever need to access your roof.
Cons: The only thing that some folk may find daunting about the installation is the need to trim the lower plastic piece on the sides of the vehicle. I personally have no issue with some trimming, it's very straightforward and the reason why they sit high and tight and flow seamlessly.

Do you have any photos on the trimmings you mentioned? Not gonna lie, I am always hesitant on that.

Thanks for the callout. It does look like that was picked up if you scroll over to the high lift jack support and mounting columns. I added that criteria because I’ve found from my own research not all rails support being used as jack points and I thought that was important.

Don’t have any good photos but you’re trimming the bottom of the plastic trim (to the right of the masking tape in the first photo. CATunedOffroad can/will send you the measurements that will make it clear.

While I applaud ChatGPT's effort, they can't all be a "YES!" for step functionality. It would be great to get some real opinions on that.

I have small kids, so for me, the only thing holding me back from upgrading my LCLC running boards is my concern for the kids' ability to get in and out and their safety when things are wet/snowy/icy/etc.

Somehow I didn’t notice that all of the entries returned “yes” for side step. I agree with your assessment and use case. I would definitely review photos of the product to determine how far out it protrudes to determine if it can utilized as a step. Opinions from folks who own them also welcome.

I see mixed responses but can you use the oem sliders as a step at all?
My girl friend was at one time 4’11” tall 50+ years ago. She uses Miss Daisy’s OEM rock slider as a step, as do my three grandchildren (3, 5, and 7 yrs old).

Thanks everyone! Yeah I actually like the oem sliders specifically because they don’t stick out a bunch but I like the idea of being able to get the edge of my foot on it to get up to the roof. It’s also good to hear younger kids can use it to climb up; I think mine would appreciate that.

2 things
I believe the Wescott sliders weigh about 75lb per side - folks on the GX forum like them. What I can’t figure out is the new install video on their website for the GX version doesn’t involve drilling into the frame (just to widen or reshape the hole) - perhaps that install method isn’t as beefy as the LC method.

As for sliding what i can’t understand is why so many seem to have bolt heads on the bottom which don’t seem great if you were to slide over something. I think I need to see a potential slider in person to assess that.

Would love to hear thoughts from those that have installed or seen all of these options.

Thank you for compiling this list. As I was also reviewing options for my cruiser to replace the OEM running boards, your post here provides a good starting point to begin comparing brands. I thought it would be useful to create a table including information about each option to help folks determine which direction they might want to go.

FedEx put my Greenlane sliders with bumpout at 48 lbs for the pair. That was with packing.

Can OEM sliders be used as a jack point? Does that even matter? Not sure if adding sliders make it more difficult to use the jack points that are on the frame itself

Likely not, judging by their thin supports and mounting points, I wouldn't trust the vehicle's weight on em. It matters if your truck is lifted and the traditional piston jacks don't offer the height needed, also matters to those who like carrying hi-lift/farm jacks, or in situations where you don't have flat ground under you or where you can't use the the frame, etc.
