This may have been covered in prior posts, however, I am considering adding the OEM cross bars to my LC.

The height with the factory standard rack is apparently 76.1." I presume the OEM cross bars are adding an additional 4-5 inches.

Has anyone had any height issues with the standard residential garage doors?

One gentleman posted last evening that he couldn't fit his LC in his work garage parking. My office parking garage seems low as well as it is underground.

I have Thule cross bars and I’ve had zero garage issues. I’m pretty sure they’re taller than the OEM set.

Appreciate the response. How does the Thule look / attach with the existing factory rack? Does it look well integrated?

Personally I really like the look. I don’t love how rounded the OEM rails are.

The crossbar won't add 4 inch on top of total height, I guess the attaching point is not the highest point of the truck. My LC trim has OEM cross bar with empty load is round 77" height. My house garage is also on lower side which is around 79". So no lift for me ;(

Those Thule's look sharp. I'm a big Thule fan. They are well built and look rugged/sporty and are pretty quiet with their aero design.

Oh, that's good to hear. As the height of the LC is noted at 76.1." Getting to 77' with the OEM rack and perhaps 78" with a Thule rack is definitely doable with the standard residential garage.

Standard residential garage door opening is 7 ft (84”). At the header, in many case, the weather strip around 1.5” is installed to it, so 82.5” is the clearance.
Another important note: to gain maximum high clearance of the garage opening, remember to adjust the garage door (when it opens) to go pass (higher) the header of the opening. Some garage doors set to sit lower than the header ( beam across the garage opening)

That’s a good point. It does appear there is an adjustment you can make to the track in order to have the motor pull the door back further.
Some are set very low and hang down well below the door opening. Which doesn’t accomplish anything.

Here I was worried about the LC fitting in my 7ft door normally. I’m guessing that’s not a problem for most implementations of 7ft doors. I’ll just have to measure mine in case the door does hang a little low.

Good detail! Just came across a thread about concerns over garage door height, and honestly hadn't even considered it. Just went out and measured, and I'm about 81", so breathed a sigh of relief! 🤣

Those are great because with them you have a fighting chance at attaching one side of your rack outboard of the tower, which makes it a heck of a lot easier to reach.

Me, I couldn’t abide the cost differential against the aftermarket crossbars I found for $89 on Amazon. So I’ll be the guy standing on my tire in the Elk Lot at Beaver Creek this year.

My 2016 Tahoe is a couple inches shorter than the LC, surprisingly. It fits in all the downtown garages I use with the crossbars, but if I have my Yakima FatCat ski rack on it, it does not.

My garage entrance is 82inches and i just make it in with the first edition.
But this means bigger tire or any lift is out.

Per code, residential garage opening headroom is 7ft (84”), the weather strip at the header is around 1.5” hung lower. Without trimming the flapping piece, the maximum clearance is 82.5”

Living in CA with NO snow/extreme weather, I just trimmed the top weather strip so I have .5” clear for my gwagon with cross bars / light brackets (2” lifted / 33” KO3). With that clearance “advance”, now my LCFE with OEM rack + 275/70 R18 KO3 tires still has 5” clear minimum (see photo). It means that I can have 2-3” lifted lifted and 35” tire in future ;). It’s my plan.

It’s detail measurement for anyone wants to go that route ( like me ) heheh

Happy LC, gang ;)

To add another datapoint, I just measured my garage door and the height of my LC w/crossbars. The garage door opening is a little over 83" not including the weather strip. It was a little more difficult to measure the height of the cross bars but it looks pretty close to 77" (as someone else previously reported). I have 20" wheels with the stock tires at 35 psi.

Also to add since I just took this photo, the satellite antenna and the side rails on the LC/LC trim are pretty nearly the same height. Cross bars will be higher than the antenna.
