You give consent even you select the options in the app. If you choose not to share data, it won’t record or save it.Not liking that Toyota can record anything without my expressed written consent.
Think I may express my thoughts to my congressmen.
The default is opt out, you have to manually select that you want to share data.I might be in the minority but, IMO it should be the other way around.......... I shouldn't have to opt out of anything. No company should be able to record or track anything I own without my expressed written consent.
I also believe that if features cannot be used without my consent, I shouldn't be charged for them.
Thank you for the explanation. The default is opt out, you have to manually select that you want to share data.
Once you set up your LC you’ll be presented with menu options for you to select which services you wish to opt in for. If you don’t want to share data, don’t select it.
if you blindly go through setup and say yes to everything, your data will be shared to Toyota.

When you do the initial setup, there’s a master data services consent. If you say no to that, nothing gets shared at all! It’s all explained when you set up the vehicle.Read page 1... Says if youy buy you concent???

I would also go on their web site and option out... It's seems you can even request that they delete your stored data?I went back and declined the Data Privacy Consent late last week and even uninstalled the app on my phone. It did reset all my settings to default, but I wasn't using any of the additional Toyota offerings and I'm not missing it. CarPlay and Sirius work the same so I'm just fine.
Ha! I went and requested that they don't share, but didn't have them delete my stored data. I'll probably let them keep my 2000 miles of driving data based on your experience! When I did that on my Taco they deleted the VIN from the system. Went to schedule an oil change and my veh could not be found. Took some doing by the maint manager but it was put back in for maint at least.
You said a mouthful....... and all of it 100% true!Your driving style could also be discoverable in a lawsuit. These records can be subpoenaed from the corporation acting as a record holder. It is akin to an ECM on commercial semi-trucks and a "black box" on commercial airplanes. This is not information you want scrutinized by a sharp Plaintiff attorney in a lawsuit.
Additionally, all of the information in those dash cams people love so much is used against you more frequently than in your favor if an accident occurs.
It is always best to fly completely under the radar with regards to any data collected.
Yes. It can and will be used against you even if it is not your fault for the accident in question.Do you think this data would be helpful to a Laywer in a Lawsuit even if your not at faultView attachment 6602?
I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to start a new post. Can anyone send me a link? Not liking that Toyota can record anything without my expressed written consent.
