My FE is supposed to arrive tomorrow. How should I go about breaking it in? This will not only be my first LC, but also my first turbo and hybrid engine. Any tips would be appreciated. I know one thing I plan on doing is changing the oil after the first 1k miles. Thanks!

Personally, I do roughly 1000 miles light-duty, varied speeds below 70, on throttle, off throttle, change the oil/filter, then gradually ramp up the load. Our present Highlander doesn't consume a drop of oil between 5K changes.

This is always a very interesting question that will elicit a wild variety of answers. Like "drive it as you plan to always drive it" or "drive it like you stole it" to "baby it till 3k miles" and everything in between. I mostly just fall in the more conservative way as @Nuke stated. Only opinion I will lob your way is change your oil. I like at 1K.

They list the break in procedure in the manual.
