Disable auto start stop?

Being the first hybrid for me I’m truly surprised in a good way by the whole system. Now to be honest I came from an eleven year old Tacoma so I really can’t compare the two. Honestly I love this thing, completely satisfied with my purchase.

Do people spend this much without researching their purchase or test driving the vehicle?
I’m sure many do. Unfortunately it’s also possible to research & test drive, focusing only on some criteria, which ultimately leads to disappointment in the end when other important criteria aren’t satisfied. Hopefully at the end of the day OP gets used to the vehicle & satisfaction improves.

I was the first to drive mine, but the dealership let me put 15 miles on it before making the decision. I was expecting the hybrid system to be smoother, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
Yes, as regards a test drive. In this early point of a release, test drives are rare, or short. I did a great deal of research but there were no unsold rigs to drive. I did get to sit in one (LCLC Premo) and drive one a few miles (1958). You just don't know a vehicle for several hundred miles, if then.

I have an LCLC Premium. Around 500 miles so far. This does not feel like the drivetrain of a $70K vehicle. But what do I know? this is my first vehicle in that price range, and first hybrid. I expected a system more refined though, especially from Toyota. I, like another poster, am disappointed by this drivetrain so far.

The transmission does start to smooth out as the miles go up. Most Toyota hybrids use a E-CVT which has no gears thus making them smooth. Hopefully some updates come out in the near future to help refine the drivetrain.

The Landcruiser hybris uses a traditional 8-speed automatic, so not an e-CVT. However, it could certainly become smoother as it becomes broken in.

These posts are hilarious, they shouldn’t be, but they are comedy gold.

In a word, yes. Car purchases are completely emotional except for a very small subset of people who approach them as tools. The industry has made a sharp turn towards off road vehicles, and a lot of people are buying them before they understand the trade-off that comes against the unibody cars they’ve had before. Someone posted here a while ago that they were disappointed their LC didn’t accelerate and corner like the BMW X3 they traded for it.

Not sure about the OP or the guy who doesn’t like his hybrid engine, or why an engine that cuts IC engine engagement at low speeds is “less of a Land Cruiser” though.

There are a lot of posts that crack me up! Several involve stating things that simply don't work the way the poster stated...... not even close to how it actually works. I understand posts where something was stated and later corrected but something along the lines of........ (just an example) I bought some outside molly panels and they didn't come with a roof rack, why would Toyota allow that to happen............

It cannot be disabled. Also, if you’re doing it to cut down on wear and tear on the starter, don’t even bother because the engine isn’t using a conventional starter. The electric motor starts the engine. There is a back up starter, but it is only used in an emergency.
Sir. I am not second guessing you. This is my first hybrid. Is there somewhere that talks about it being a non-traditional starter? I’m trying to learn and thank you in advance.

It has 2 starters........
Primary is the electric motor/transmission
Backup is a traditional 12v starter (should the hybrid system fail).

The start stop function is very very well done on the LCs. Almost not noticeable. How the drive train will age is yet to be discovered in general use. Some of us are more interested in trying something newer and requires some creative thinking and open mindedness some not so much. There are plenty of really great vehicles of all types out there these days.
Get what you like and want, then let it sort out over time, if it sorts bad sooner than later,,,,,,, I say again, get what you want.
Don't suffer.
