Hello!
First off, overall I really like the vehicle!
However, it is my first new car and I'm finding that a lot of the new 'features' are incredibly annoying - almost to the point of wanting to return it. I'm sure I'm not alone there, and perhaps in the future they will be fixed with a software update. I'll spare you the torture of listing them all in my inaugural thread and just begin with an easy one:
When starting the vehicle in the dark, in park with park-brake engaged - the headlights come on.
No other car I've driven has done this in the above configuration.
They DO NOT come on when started with the app or the remote-start via the key.
It is a Canadian vehicle, so no OFF position.
I've taken it to Toyota and the kids there did not have an answer, despite the manual stating this should not be happening. True, I could shine a light on the sensor....but that's not really a fix.
There are a lot of scenarios where it is nice to not light-up the entire world. From being a considerate neighbour to someone who just came home from a night-shift, to maybe just wanting to hang in a mall parking lot at -30 C with the heat on, trying not to choke on your regrets while eating chicken nuggets.
Has anyone else noticed this - and if so, found a solution?
Thank you
