2006 100 series TD Sahara
Hi,

Hope someone can give me some advise on the below issue.

I have a 2006 100 series TD Sahara. While towing the boat I was accelerating to around 3000rpm when the car started to chug and then the turbo pipe from cooler to turbo burst.

Has anyone got any advise as to why this has happened?

This is a 2024+ Land Cruiser forum. There might be a few people who know something about earlier land cruisers, but there are probably better places to ask? Like IH8MUD?

Just my opinion. Ford, for example, has a plastic intercooler charge pipe. These pipes are known for failure. Sooner or later, they develop stress cracks. Once the charge pipe is breached, you lose boost depending on the size of the failure. IMO, common problem. You may see if a metal charge pipe is available? It may go a long way in preventing a breach. Good luck-

It’s an 18 year old vehicle using a rubber or plastic charge pipe. That is a lot of heat and dry conditions to degrade rubber or plastic down in Oz over time. Treat the old girl to new charge pipes and clamps. Move on with life.

My thought is your rubber sleeves are junk. If your charge pipe is made of metal and doesn't have a raised bead around the end, putting a bead on the pipe will prevent the rubber sleeve from slipping off and solve your problem
