Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

Picked up my 1958 in April just north of Austin at Cedar Park Toyota for 56k from sticker 61k (side steps and roof rack etc adds from port, no dealer adds).

Here in the SF Bay Area discounted units are hard to come by. I’ve been looking for a few weeks and all i saw was msrp/markup on them. Used one’s, 2024’s selling for high 60’s/low 70’s and one First Edition being listed for 78k. I had an offer on a 25 with an accident and 4k miles for just under 65k and another 25 with 5k miles but no SDM. As I wanted the SDM, I didn’t take its 65k offer either.

Glad I waited because I found the heritage/greyscape with premium with black leather(not softex) today at a similar price. I can’t say exactly, but I bought it from Capitol Toyota in San Jose, Ca and it was a great experience. No pressure and no hassles. Everything promised on the phone/text was as expected when I showed up. Jonathan, Sales Director was great to work with. He’s the person I made the tentative deal with on the phone.

Anyway, I checked with approximately 14 dealers int he area that had 25’s with SDM and they weren’t dealing at all. It’s a sellers market here so I feel fortunate to have randomly found and talked with Jonathan and to have gotten what I wanted.
When I was browsing for Land Cruisers earlier in the year, every local dealer that had one in stock had either a markup or several dealer add-ons here in Marin. I was surprised to find two in stock at Toyota Marin with a no haggle price of $2k off in blue and sand on Saturday. I was leaning towards a car with a third row so I wanted to sleep on it. Of course both had a deposit on them that day. When I stopped in the next day after deciding I wanted a Toyota over a Lexus, not knowing both Land Cruisers were claimed, I saw a woman driving the blue one after her extended test drive. We had a good laugh after I I told her she stole it from me.

That night I found another blue one but without the white two-tone top but with brown leather seats that I preferred. I like the two-tone top but the all blue reminded me more of China blue g-wagons that I always liked. I soon realized most car brands have a version of that pastel blue because it's so popular. This one was in Petaluma and they also had a simple pricing policy but was only $200 off msrp. I had a trade-in that I had prepped to turn in. Plus I knew I was in an obsessive stage where I'd kill hours looking for a blue Land Cruiser. I could get the deal done within a 30 minute drive so I got that one. Hansel Toyota also has a simple lease policy. Also no fighting for the base money factor on a lease if you qualify. No required add-ons.

This Land Cruiser has a similar road presence as the g-wagon. It's a really great design. Their dimensions are very similar and also have a high riding position in a narrower body and lower windows. I let my son drive it and he said it reminded him of driving the g-wagon.

I think all of these mixed reviews on the Land Cruiser are actually helping those that want one. They are making people over think the decision, me included, so that you have a better chance of finding one at a fair price.

I got my LC $6500 off sticker on a walk by on a Saturday night and the dealer had a deal fall thru that night this past March. Everyone in Phoenix was playing hardball on the Java LC at the time.

Got an all Blue one w/ Java interior $3300 off MSRP and no weird accessories or fees at Concord Toyota in the Bay Area.
Negotiated and purchased in one day. Sunnyvale Toyota was also willing to do $3000 off MSRP on a Trail Dust, but with a $2K higher MSRP because of gizmos.

Have a deposit on a LCLC - Wind Chill Pearl and Black interior - due to arrive in the next two weeks. Negotiated 7.5% off msrp. Discount wasn’t special to that car/color combo. We have two dealerships about 20 minutes from one another and one religiously posts all vehicles at 7-8% off msrp once they land at their lot. I asked my salesperson at the closer dealership to match that discount. He said no problem and that it was essentially invoice plus $1 (not sure if that is true) - dealership makes money on manufacturer incentives and it keeps higher allocation volumes flowing to their dealership. The dealership I bought from has 20-30 landcruisers in transit or build phase pretty much all the time with almost all pre-sold.

The same family owns the Lexus dealership next door. They wanted 15% over msrp for a GX550 between “dealer demand fees” and random dealer add-ons - PPF, blinking brake lights, etc. plus 10-16 month wait. So that wasn’t going to happen 😂.

Welcome to the forum Warrior372.

What part of Idaho are you in?

5% off precisely as I would have specced it. In a state with no excise/property tax presently so that is worth another $1700. Easy deal. Expect some swagg at delivery.
