Anyone *driven* both the 18 and 20-in wheel versions of LC?

Has anyone been able to drive an LC with the 18 inch wheels back-to-back with the 20-inch wheels? Please comment on differences you noted, and whether the 20's are noticeably harsher on surface streets and highways or just incrementally harsher.

Test drove a first edition and thought it was a bit harsh but I'm guessing they didn't have the tires at the correct pressures.

I drove my LC with the 20s and it felt about the same until I dropped the pressures to 33 and it made a huge difference.

Even with the 20s you have a ton of sidewall. I don't think there would be a massive difference in comfort.

I've got money to bet that anybody in a blind test could tell the difference between the two............

I drove an LC LC and now have a FE. IMHO, my FE droves much better than the LC LC with 20 inch tires. Of course, I don't know what the tire pressures were at the time for the LC LC.

The OEM 20” tires are 60 profile - that IMO is not a short enough profile to distinguish itself in ride characteristics versus a 70 profile 18” tire. I’d expect the choice of tire would have more impact on the ride.

For fun comparison - my 911 has 20” wheels too, with 305/30 tires on the back. Looks like about 2” of sidewall. Now that is a firm ride!

Anecdotally on my 4Runner I had 275/55/20 all seasons and 265/65/17 Blizzak winters. Allowing for part of the difference being the softer winter tires, there was a noticeable difference and during pothole season the 17s were way better on sharp impacts. But in the summer the 20s did feel more planted on road.
