Anyone Cooking with the 2400 inverter?

I’m looking for an alternative to gas & campfire cooking since Texas always seems to have burn bans in effect.. Wondering if anyone has used the inverter in the back for cooking, powering a fridge or charging a power station. I’m trying to develop a solo camping setup that allows me to sleep in the back and make quick meals with an induction cooker.

My biggest concern is somehow screwing up the LC electrical system by plugging in too much stuff for too long and stranding myself in an isolated area. I think a good way to prevent that would be to use a power station instead of the vehicle inverter but Before I spend money on a power station I want to make sure I can charge it in the truck. I’m curious if this may be an issue due to a video I watched on YouTube (below- jump to 5:30). If anyone has real world experience or advice with this, I’d love to hear it. TIA

I use the power inverter often. With our electric refrigerator/freeze we connect a power station that is than plugged into the inverter. Works great but the car does need to be on to work. Our fridge does shut off if power gets too low but as of yet no problems.

My next trip out, I'm going to bring my "Instapot" air fryer and see how well that works out with power consumption.

This new cooktop from Nuwave looks like it has some nice improvements for the money. I like that it comes with a probe that integrates with the cooktop's temperature.

FYI, Just checked Amazon and they have a new small model without a probe for $71.
Ah, you're right, and it's on sale. The automatic probe is a new feature, though.

Ecoflow also makes an Alternator charger that will charge most of their power stations while driving.
  • Charge while you drive and stay powered up on the road.
  • 800W turbo alternator, 8× faster than traditional in-vehicle auxiliary power outlets. Top up 1kWh in only 1.3 hours.
  • A 3-in-1 fast charger, maintainer, and jump starter keeps your battery in mint condition.
  • Easy installation
  • Suitable for a variety of vehicles, including SUVs, pickups, and RVs.
  • Expands existing RV house battery capacity.

I’m planning on installing this as I assume you’ll get better power efficiency staying with low voltage DC, rather than converting first through the inverter to high voltage AC and then back down in your power station

I haven't installed one yet. But everything I've seen in my research say you can't charge an Ecoflow power station directly from the 2400W port. Unless you're stationary for extended periods this is a great option for keeping your power station charged. And the 2400W port available for other things. Plus if I'm reading things correctly can use this to recharge a dead battery. There are a couple issues that have been ID'd, short cable for some installations and requires you to flip the switch before you start driving. Hopefully Ecoflow is working on a solution to these issues.

I charge my EcoFlow from the 2400 watt plug every day. But yeah you need to remember to turn the inverter on which can be kind of annoying. Charges in 1 hour at room temperature though

There's gotta be some folks out there that hate cooking like I do, and eating is just calorie replenishment when outdoors. For us where food is 2nd to the activity, a microwave is more than sufficient!

Besides, anyone who goes fishing knows that the second you get some food out, all the rods are gonna get hit - who has time to eat?? 🤣

The EcoFlow Delta 2 charges 480+- watts w the car power outlet. Super cool bc my old 4Runner did not and I was freaking pissed when I found out. But the LC outlet works!! Get ARB fridge too had mine 10yrs and zero issues.

Eocoflow (and other vendors) also offers a separate alternator charger that sources from the battery rather than the inverter.

There is a discussion in this forum where some members are doing that for various reasons.

One of the benefits of the power banks is they can be charged by various sources and some even simultaneously like solar plus inverter. Various software can potentially let you set thresholds and choose which source or even schedule time of day. For example, solar during the day, inverter at night if power bank below 25%, and alternator while driving.

I'm running a Goal Zero 700 with a Iceco 55 fridge. The fridge can run 3-4 days off of the Zero and I have that plugged into the inverter so that while I drive it changes the battery back to full. Works great for all of our camping needs.

Wish they made a longer narrower electric cooler, I went with the smallest Iceco one and it’s not very practical except for drinks

Totally agree. I would love it if this one was about 3 inches skinnier, but keep the height and length. My Labrador barely fits when I load the fridge in the back.

I finally got out to do some camping and i used an electric griddle from Walmart. I was able to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner on the griddle and it worked perfectly. I like that i didn't need to have a pan and cooking never took more than 15 minutes. The LC had no problem with this at all. I made eggs, pancakes, sausages, burgers, & chicken fajitas. The best part was warming buns and tortillas on the greasy griddle for added flavor!! I bought the Nuwave from Amazon but this $20 griddle beats it hands down. Its one piece and can be dunked in water for easy cleaning.
