275/70/18 Fuel Economy

Got them at our local Quality Tire / Tire Pro. Had them in a day. Driven all of 12 miles but the new 18” wheel vs the 20” wheel seems to have given it a better more planted ride (more rubber). Will update the group as we get more miles. Very happy with the Toyo 275/70/18 ATIII EV.
Are those wheels from a Trail Hunter Tacoma? Doubting they are from a 4Runner, as I don’t think the Trail Hunter or Pro 4R’s have hit the dealerships as of yet. Wonder if the Trail Hunter wheel on the Taco and the 4R have the same specs?

Any more feedback on the AT3 EV's? I'm considering this option as well. I read some negative reviews on Rivian forum about loud drone sound around 50mph. What's your experience been?

I'm interested as well in the AT3 EV SL. looks like the Rivians are running E due to its weight?

Would like to see some pics of the SL in 275/70R1-SL (44lbs/ea published data)

Is the sidewall tread the same thickness?
Tire tread is less compared to E.

Just completed switching from the stock 20” dunlops to the Tacoma TRD 18” wheels and the Toyo Open Country AT3 EV 275/70R18.

Initial thoughts. The tires are light, I had them delivered from Tire Rack and then my local shop installed them. Off the rims they felt almost too light, but that’s kinda the point of them so ok I guess.

Ive completed half a tank this weekend running errands, longest trip 20 miles (23mpg that trip), most trips under 10 miles, temps here about 55 so the LC has rarely been warmed up and I am at exactly 20.0mpg since I reset after install.
That is about the same as I got on the stock oem setup and when manually calculated may be slightly better with the larger tire.
The offset of the TRD rims is exactly what I wanted as it pushed the tires out just enough so the treads are inside the mudflaps, and the overall tire incl sidewall are just perfectly inside the wheel arch.
There is definitely a drone at 50mph and it’s noticeable - but there always is with nice looking A/T tires and it’s no worse than the Wildpeaks I had on my T4R. Around town it isn’t noticeable, above 50 the wind noise kicks in and I usually have the stereo on at that point so not a big concern.

I got the Toyo open country 275 and I’m averaging 20 MPG and mix city Highway. I recently averaged 24 miles per gallon on a recent highway trip of 400 miles. I’m 10,000 miles in and gas mileage has steadily improved especially after each oil change.

Unfortunately, I’ve already had to punctures with the Toyo’s. Mesquite thorns are a big problem where I am. I’d previously always gone with BFGoodrich KO and never had a puncture. The Toyo’s seem to be wearing much faster and I don’t think they’ll make it 30,000 miles . However, those KO’s are much heavier tires. I think my next step will be a set of 265 KO’s and maybe a leveling kit.

The thorn puncture is resulted in slow leaks, and I noticed a substantial difference in MPG when I didn’t keep the tires aired up. The difference between 30 psi and 37 psi would be two MPG or more.

Looks great! Are you running the SL or E version?

I've stopped caring, but as stated above, best to check against GPS. The Nitto G3 275/70/R18's really aren't that much bigger than the stock tires. Not unexpectedly, GPS and vehicle readings are pretty close, so I don't think that's effecting MPG. I'm still running between 19.5 and 20.5. Removing the top rails on the roof rack this weekend. Although some have reported mpg improvement by doing that, it's not why I'm removing. Tired of them bouncing off signs as I pull into my parking garage for work!
Does the spare fit in the proper place under the vehicle? These are what I’m thinking about getting. Thanks.

I'm running 275/70-18 KO3s on a brand new 1958 model. I've seen 15mpg in town to 23mpg (once) on the highway. Seems to be averaging 19mpg at the moment and improving as I get more miles on the odo. Interestingly, I expected the speedometer to be off with the larger tires and it is not, running almost exactly the indicated speed.

The speedometer in all of these seems to be set for a 33" diameter tire.

It's encouraging to hear people getting pretty good MPGs on E load tires.

Another welcome 275/70R18 AT option in SL! I think that means 4 now? Where did you get them? They hadn't come up as an option when I searched before (usually America's Tire). I added them to my spreadsheet, they look like a great option for light offroad use that may offer better fuel economy.

I wasn't aware of these particular tires either until I saw the spreadsheet. They are now on my LC as of a couple weeks ago. So far, very happy with them.
