To be super picky, even the best ICE engine will give only give you less than 30% efficiency. There are very big rooms still for improvement…
Did you keep it to 55mph the whole trip?

How? I'm averaging 15mpg so far.....
I’ve been getting 23-24MPG since day one. Currently at 23.4 after all summer above 24. That’s mixed 50/50 highway city
Stock tires?
That is exactly what I want to ask. How? 15 mpg?

Yes. 20" factory wheels/tires.
I wish I knew..... perhaps I should change my driving style
For turbo engine the time you spent driving within the turbo zone the gas efficiency will disproportionally drop off the cliff. It is sort like afterburner.
Minimize the time having turbo turned on will significantly improve your efficiency, though some will actually describe that as “hyper-miling”
I kinda already know this after watching how all the owners of Sequoia complained for years. They give you hypermiling efficiency not realistic one. But you pay for the gas so it is up to you.
This is something Toyota can improve by just change that hybrid battery into a larger lithium version but they decided not to do so so that’s it.

Great - thanks for the info. I'm really keen on upgrading the tires, but not keen on sacrificing the fuel economy. 35's are not in my future.
I'm at almost 1000 miles, and my best has been 21.2, I'm happy with that. Looking forward to when breakin is done. She's a driving dream.
I am only getting a little over 18 but it is mostly in city driving. I have taken her on a 300 mile road trip but did not see any improvement. May help if I kept my foot out of it. LOL
I had the stock 20" tires for the first 1000 miles, and averaged around 23 mpg. Switched to 265/60 R20 KO2's and now I'm at just over 20 mpg. Big, tough, heavy tires do make a difference. Lower mpg, but where I drive here in Wyoming, rock punctures are a common problem, so I'll take the hit in mileage to get the tougher tire.
Are those LT rated tires? I'm thinking of staying away from E rated for that reason. I'm a bit torn though.
Yes, the full description for the tires: BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 LT265 /60 R20 121S E1 RBL. With the E-rating, BFG recommends higher pressure then the OEMs for the LC 250, around 40 psi. I went with 38 psi, and it seems to be fine. Perhaps an even higher pressure than 38 would improve mpg a bit, at the expense of a rougher ride.

Exactly. Even driving gently and staying 65-75 mph I got about 17.5 mpg with OEM wheels and now with some 35's I am getting 15 mpg. On a recent trip from the Bay Area to Boise going 85-90 mph I got 11.5-12.5 mpg. No idea how this car is rated for or anyone can get north of 20 mpg. I did not buy this for the hybrid engine or efficiency, but it is a pig.
