Thinking about trading in my 22 4cylinder Defender for an LC LC. Knowing the history with Land Rover’s reliability (knock on wood my Defender has been fine for the most part) vs Toyota’s history with reliability the answer should be a no brainer to go with the LC.

But, reports coming in with Toyota’s recent bad luck with their newer engines and transmissions, more specifically for their Tundras and Tacomas, am I just trading in one bad reliable brand for a new kid on the block?

Am I just being paranoid? Or should I trust Toyota’s good history with reliability despite these recent hiccups?

This will be my first Toyota (lies I had a Scion TC for a very brief period).

I’m kind of looking at the Tundra situation & realizing that if there is an issue, and they all have issues nowadays, I can count on Toyota to stand behind their product. They seem to investigate failure, admit fault, & come up with a plan to make sure the customer is whole.

If the worst thing happened and my ‘24 naded; i’d get right back in again on a ‘25 model.

1958, of course
