Correct, I am 95% sure that should work (I cant be totally sure since i haven't had my hands on the JBL setup, and Toyota does some wacky stuff w/ these stereos).
@SOCAL250 should be able to confirm.
I think the door woofers would make the most difference for you. If you skip upgrading the tweeter it's no more complicated to just put the woofer in the door.
In your situation I would get the following:
Infinity Primus 693c
METRA 72-8109 wiring harness
METRA 82-8146 speaker bracket
Sound...
I dont think those would be a good choice for the JBL system. According to the other thread, the signal for the front door on the JBL system is split between the A pillar tweeter and the door woofer, and its possible that the full signal range is sent to the door woofer depending on the...
The JBL speakers are more complicated, especially the front door. Over in the JBL thread, SOCAL250 upgraded theirs

You will need to get component speakers for the door that have a crossover and tweeter like the infinity primus...
Do you have the rear vents turned on? That might make a difference, lots of cubic feet in these big boxes. Also check the more detailed climate controls from the touch screen
In options make sure that eco mode is not enabled
I wrote these measurements down when i had things apart:
Hole diameter: 8"
Screw diameter: 9.5"
Raw Depth (sheet metal to sheet metal): 3.5"
Max Depth (sub mounted to bracket): 4"
I think what you describe when the midrange stop working when the tweeters are removed is caused by crossovers in the tweeters. They also have 4 wires going: 2 full range in, 2 low pass filtered (maybe?) out to the woofers. This thread documents tweeter replacement well
I suspect that is the...
Its strange there are what looks like 4 wires running to the tweeter. I suspect they are passing the full range signal to the tweeter which has a crossover, and splitting the signal between the tweeter and the dash midrange door woofer
Do you notice much difference with ANC disabled? I feel like my LC does something like 3 deep pulses from the ANC to test it or something when the car first starts
I think pushing the rear button just changes the front panel to control the rear.
So you have to press the rear button, then press another control. I usually hit rear then auto and that turns the rear on. Or rear then off to turn it off
The green light turning off after 10s is just returning...
That's a good question, it really comes down to what you want to improve and what kind of music you listen to.
If you listen to hip hop/pop with heavy bass, I would upgrade the front doors and sub
If you want clearer more detailed guitar/vocals/piano, go for the dash.
I would do the center...
I am not sure what the JBL system uses for connectors, I imagine the are the same but theres no way to know without someone checking. It's not too hard to pull one of the dash speakers out to see what connector that has
For the base 10 speaker system I think just swapping the sub made a pretty big improvement. I can't speak to the JBL system though. The Morel has pretty high sensitivity so it does well without an amp
If the JBL system has the same aggressive crossovers applied to the subwoofer signal, I don't...
Hmm the base LC had a 2 wire connector, did you happen to get a photo or anything? You can see the blue/black cable connecting at the bottom of the speaker of the MSW photo above.
I used the metra 72-8109 wiring harness for all 8 speakers (including the hatch): Amazon.com
I had to trim the...
It was not too bad. The whole trim piece is held on with the little white clips, no screws or other connectors. I am not sure if the FE/premium adds more complexity with the extra speakers and camera though.
If you are just trying to reach the speaker in the hatch, i think that it's possible...
I clay bar the windows and then use Griots glass sealant as a base every 6 months or so, and then clean with rain-x cerami-x, this combo seems to last a long time and really causes the water the sheet off

One other reason i dont think that adapter would work, the mounts in the toyota are bipolar (one on each side) and that BMW mount uses 3 mounting holes so they wont align
The main reason the 4" wouldn't fit was depth, they also have 4 mounting brackets (vs 2 on the 3.5") which make them a little too wide. With the way the crossovers are configured (at least on my LC trim 10 speaker base stereo) blocking any signal below 200hz, I don't know if there will be much...
Can you try using one of the tone generators, either on your phone or laptop? I am curious where something like a 60hz tone comes from on the 1958
I only replaced the woofer in the hatch, I did not modify the hatch or grill at all. so with the trim installed it looks stock.
The woofer is...
Thanks for clarifying. I think most info for the 1958 is speculation, with a sample size of 1 from a youtube video. Hopefully someone can pull the trim and run some tests to really figure things out.
Studying over the TIS that EOD Guy linked, there are some clues that it uses the existing...
Even though the frequencies are almost identical, there is a a +3db boost from 20-50hz. That made a pretty big improvement to the sound quality. I completely lined the back hatch with sound deadening before upgrading the woofer, which made a big improvement too. The bass is a lot more precise...
That's a great suggestion, thanks.
One caveat to using a phone is that there could be equalizer settings in the phone or app that could manipulate the signal level somewhat, but for this type of tests that shouldn't be an issie
Another good test most people could try to prove or disprove my theories:
Hook a laptop up as a bluetooth media source to the LC
Set all the audio tuning to the middle, make sure the speakers are "centered"
use an online frequency generator like Online Tone Generator
Open all the doors and rear...
I only have access to my LC trim base model (not premium) but i imagine the 1958 works about the same. The TIS guides EOD Guy referenced state a "6 speaker" or "not 6 speaker" system.
I think the 1958 is the 6 speaker: 2 dash, 2 front doors, center dash, hatch woofer. You could check your...
I am sorry, but saying "its not part of stereo" is misinformation that needs to stop
I am not disagreeing with you that it is also part of the ANC system, both things can be true. As I mentioned in the other thread where you brought this up, all that TIS shows is that the ANC system uses the...
I finally got the rest of the parts in and got everything swapped out. The fataliPro 4" woofer was too large to fit in to the center dash position, but the 8" Morel MSW 265 woofer fit perfectly into the rear hatch. I also picked up an oscilloscope to try and tease out what signal gets sent to to...
