Towing -- Well Above Weight Ratings for Very Short Distance?

Do what Iā€™ve done for the last 16 years w my boat. Leave it on the lift / hoist all year at your dock. My boat is much smaller but Iā€™ve rarely used its trailer.

    Heated Seats issue: Updated**

I donā€™t know if youā€™re going to get a satisfactory resolution or not. But I tend to think that the dealer - as a middleman - has a greater challenge in addressing your concern which seems to be more of a design issue vs obvious defect. If I were so dissatisfied with my 58ā€™s heated seats (Iā€™m...

New Wheels/ Tires 1958 Ice Cap

I like the looks of the wheel but only a half inch of poke? Is that from the outer edge of the thin fender flares on the ā€˜58? It looks like the poke is increased 54mm (2.1ā€) over the ā€˜58ā€™s OEM configuration. Without measuring, I wouldnā€™t have assumed that thereā€™s 1.5ā€ of clearance to spare (ie...

ECO Mode bad for the vehicle?

On my 1958, one is able to resume driving in ECO mode after stopping the engine. But the same does not apply for SPORT mode (it reverts back to normal). For SPORT mode, you must select that mode each time you restart the vehicle.

    *Still* at port

After I took delivery of my 1958, it took a number of days for the unit to be deleted from the ā€œin stockā€ inventory at my dealer per Toyota.com

    *Still* at port

I wouldnā€™t always assume that the inventory listing at Toyota.com is overly precise. If I recall correctly, there is some qualifying language at the site that warns you of potential inaccuracies.

LC250 finally went on sale in Australia

Are we supposed be to be sympathetic to the Aussies? I mean, they have a choice between a 70 series, 300 series and a 250 series, right? šŸ˜‰

WeatherTech FloorLiners now available for 250

How so? It seems to add much more coverage than OEM at that spot

    Speedometer is way off

Regardless of tire math, I think itā€™s unlikely that Toyota purposely calibrated the speedometer to align with some assumed size larger than the OEM spec.

J250 vs J300 build differences (metal thickness, diffs sizes, knuckles, control arms, etc)

Exactly. And itā€™s not as if we are even able (nor were able) to purchase a heavy-duty Land Cruiser (ie, 70 series) in the US.

    2024 v 2025 1958

True. Interestingly, 4Runner unit sales were up 3% compared to the same period of ā€˜23. The outgoing model has had some staying power. https://s3.amazonaws.com/toyota-cms-media/toyota-pdfs/US%20Sept%202024%20chart%20FINAL.pdf

    2024 v 2025 1958

Though the production volumes arenā€™t Camry-like, Toyota has sold over 20,000 LCs for the first 10 months of ā€˜24 in the US. For last 10 years of the 200 series LC, annual US sales was consistently less than 4000. Thatā€™s a significant increase.

    Brakes Squeal

Same here. I used to think that surface rust on rotors was an issue when looking at a new car on the dealerā€™s lot (ie, as if the car had been in inventory far too long). I later realized how quickly it forms in the presence of moisture (such as when washing my Cayman)

    Brakes Squeal

Over 5500 miles and I havenā€™t noticed any noise, other than the usual scrapping off of surface rust after driving in wet conditions (which has been sparse in Alabama this fall). For those that like to occasionally track their Porsches, etc., they often have to weigh the benefits (effectiveness...

Test drove the LC - wanting a bit more performance - future performance upgrades coming?

Have you driven the GX much? I couldnā€™t tell from your first post. If not, it might be a good fit. I wouldnā€™t dismiss it simply due to fuel economy. The LC can get good economy but you really have to avoid engaging the turbo much to achieve that and it doesnā€™t seem that youā€™re wanting to do...

Test drove the LC - wanting a bit more performance - future performance upgrades coming?

Starfly, If you already havenā€™t already, you should read the below C&D article. I think it will better help you understand the intended power delivery of the LC vs the GX, etc. For example, the LCā€™s weakness in a 0-60 run is likely more due to the fact that the electric assist isnā€™t sustained...

Nitto Ridge Grapplers on stock 1958?

Is that the size used in the Toyota distributor add on? Do you know if the wheel size was also increased or if that accessory only swapped out the tires?

Test drove the LC - wanting a bit more performance - future performance upgrades coming?

I wouldnā€™t hold my breath waiting on Toyota to make a significant change to the drivetrain. The GX needs the engine upgrade to justify its existence, as in the past. And Toyota tends to change very little during a given generationā€™s life cycle. Though the LC has a significantly higher 0-60...

Whatā€™s the verdict on MPG when removing front tire air dams-without changing tires and rims?

I donā€™t doubt there is some effect but itā€™s not significant enough to warrant leaving them in place. The lipstick might slightly improve the pigā€™s appearance but it doesnā€™t hide the fact that itā€™s a pig. Again, itā€™s a 6000lb boxā€¦

Whatā€™s the verdict on MPG when removing front tire air dams-without changing tires and rims?

Only modification to my 1958 and I havenā€™t noticed any difference. Itā€™s a 6000lb box driving down the highway. Those little rubber pieces could only do so much

    No roof rack.

Had to search hard in ā€˜02 to find a new LC that didnā€™t have the cosmetic, distributor addons such as fender flares, roof racks, running boards, etc In early ā€˜21, I was briefly tempted to buy the Heritage Edition. I liked that it didnā€™t include running boards, cool box, and 3rd row seats. But I...

    Tire Upgrade ?

Neither bean counters, engineers or designers make the ultimate decision. We each provide input based on our perspective / specialty and then an owner / chief executive decides.
