Has anyone installed their front license plate bracket themselves?
It doesn't appear Toyota put any centering marks on the front bumper for the bracket, so I am inquiring as to anyone's centering guides/techniques.
Yes, that is surprising they don't mention these lower tabs. If one were to follow the manual and pull too hard, you could tear the bumper cover.
This is another reason why I always make it a point to never read the owner's manual.
Well put together argument with documented references. As much as I have always loved old Land Cruisers, the fact remains, they are old Land Cruisers. And technology keeps moving forward whether we like it or not.
Absolutely. Commercial trucks have been running 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder turbos for 50 plus years. And they are pulling 80,000 lbs generally over 100k miles per year.
Comparing these new turbo engines (especially Toyota) to the old 80's and 90's turbos you would find in a Saab 900/9000 are...
That is great hear it performs so well in the higher altitudes as well. We frequent Winter Park and Vail during snow ski season.
I am, frankly, amazed at how quickly and seamlessly the LC gets up and moves. Both from a stop and from speed on the highway.
And it does this with very low...
I agree. I am a little surprised at the 14.8 mpg I've been achieving in City driving so far. However, I barely have 500 miles on it and I am always in Sport mode. That's worth a little extra fuel burn to me. 👍
Great write-up and review.
Re fuel economy. Anyone who purchased a new Land Cruiser thinking it would be getting 20-25 mpg on average isn't intelligent enough to get to the point in life to buy a new Land Cruiser. The dry weight of a Land Cruiser is over 5,000lbs. There is not an aerodynamic...
When I was looking at those flaps on that site last week, they were literally $364 shipped out the door. Now they are $416...??
I guess this inflation is really kicking in rapidly now. Perhaps I should start looking at the prices at the grocery store now.
I just turned mine off last evening. I don’t believe I am getting any notification/pop-ups.
Did you turn it off in the “Options” area? Second to last feature on the long list?
I would take it to a shop and have it properly prepped and ensure the proper paint is used. From the factory, painted brake parts are baked on enamel designed to withstand the heat and rigors of the braking system.
If done improperly, a host of issues would ensue.
That could be true. I just remember looking at a new one sitting on the showroom floor in that era and the sales manager doing everything, short of giving it to me, to get me to buy it. I was still a confused young man at that time and was going through my troubled Range Rover Sport stage in...
I remember in 2019/2020 when dealers couldn't get rid of them. $10k - $12k off MSRP was the norm and they still weren't selling.
You know, if I were to drive a 200 today, I would be disappointed after owning the 250 with its overall better looks, much better driving, and overall updated feel...
A TRD buyer is more in tune with the Jeep Wrangler / Ford Bronco crowd and can typically be found backed in a parking spot at the local sports bar / Hooters drinking beer, yelling, and watching NFL football.
The Land Cruiser buyer has or is getting gray hair and tends to have different...
Great background story and outstanding logic supporting your purchase of a new LC.
I believe many of us can agree with and mirror many of your sentiments and reasons.... Safety, built like a tank-Land Cruiser, outstanding looks, and Toyota reliability. Combine all of these elements with Land...
The warranty can be purchased at any time prior to the 3/36 expiration. It's always a tough choice whether to do it or not.
Like Uraniumrich wrote, an actuary (group of actuaries) did the research and determined what price would make them money. However, just like group life insurance and...
Outstanding. Thank you for the pic. Always have liked the FJ's.
That does look great.
Yes. The grayscape may match the Land Cruiser even better with the factory gray look.
With all this recent talk about grayscape roofs, it got me wondering how a grayscape would look on a black exterior...?
I think it may be sharp. Has anyone wrapped it as of yet? Love to see pics.
Looks like we have a few different thoughts on it. I do like the safety aspect of all the options the LC offers. At first, the constant warning ding had me looking all over the dash for errors. I get it and it is slick. Is it annoying at times....? I say it is indeed. However, as they say...
What is the consensus on the Driver Attention Function?
It really is demanding and jealous as it doesn't allow you to drive into car dealerships and look at other cars without scolding you.
It tells me I am slouching over frequently as well.
Welcome to the LC Club! I believe many of us have had too many experiences with owning a number of German cars. I believe we can all agree to add English vehicles to this list....specifically Land Rover/Range Rover.
EOD Guy wanted me to add the one exception to the German rule....Porsche 911...
