Thanks. I have a VIN number now, but it’s interesting to Google it and see that every dealer in Corwin’s network (and a few more that aren’t) have it listed as incoming inventory.
Theoretically I have a deposit down on that vehicle and it’s on its way to me, but nothing would be shocking.
I’ve always been a big fan of the manu-matic gearboxes for mountain driving. I roll downhill in whatever gear wants to keep the vehicle at comfortable speed, maybe 65 MPH between the Eisenhower and Silverthorne Colorado for example.
Don’t have my LC yet so I don’t know how it behaves. My...
I know, but there is such a narrative around the demise of the 4.0. Comments on any social media post about these vehicles are 80% people griping and laying FUD about the new engine. So I bring it up.
Chances are, whatever device you’re reading this on hadn’t been invented yet when Toyota...
By way of an update - I never did get an allocation number for my GX and I literally had to show up in person at the Lexus dealer to get the sales team’s attention. I gave up, started looking actively at Land Cruisers, and found an allocation for a Heritage Blue LCP that should arrive sometime...
Across cars I’ve found a little goes a long way on cooled seats. You think you want a more noticeable effect but past a certain point it makes me feel like I’ve peed my pants.
On the turbos. People don’t realize that almost all engines in long haul semi trucks and commercial airplanes use turbochargers, and those engines run long, long, long. I realize the semis are diesel but the turbos work the same way.
The auto industry probably hurried turbo technology into...
Toyota has sold about six million Priuses at this point. No inordinate reliability issues I’m aware of.
It’s not a risk free world but in the context of adopting a new technology I don’t really see this as a big leap.
I’m relatively a fan of a second set of winter wheels, but not understanding how that approach is more cost effective. If we pay $700-$1500 for that second set of wheels, how much are your tire stores charging you guys to swap tires?
Lots of griping and FUD from people who own previous gen units. Little of it is informed.
Watch this review. The guy is knowledgeable and very credible and reviews the mechanicals of the new Land Cruiser in detail. Spoiler - he recognizes that the engine is more complex than a naturally...
Are we able to confirm definitively that the 6-lug wheels from late model Taco/Tundra/Sequoia have the same bore measurement that the LC uses?
I’ve searched and can clearly see several of you have used those wheels, so I suspect affirmative. But I can’t find the question asked and answered, so...
~3.40 in our neighborhood outside of Denver and 20-30 cents less in the city. ~3.55 at our place in Vail (Avon) last weekend.
Where did you find gas in Colorado at $4.43?
It will be more squeeze than juice. I’m assuming Toyota didn’t spec a smaller fuel tank for the LC just to piss us off. Something about the hybrid design must have affected space availability down there.
IMO, if it’s crucial to have a few more gallons of fuel availability, a side or rear...
The hardware upgrades I’m sure pissed off anyone who had invested in a system. I’m not sure what the technical driver was.
The new app intro was an enormous goof. Sounds like they aren’t trying to run from it though. We’ll see.
I’ve used them to outfit both of my kids’ cars with better stereos in the last few years. Cool company, though I have wondered how they do in a world where most car audio is bespoke to the car and Sonos has become a legitimate home theater alternative to component systems. I guess they do sell...
I also use Lexol. Their Vinylex protectant is also great, it’s an Armor-all like product.
I do find though that modern leather seats require less intervention than the ones I remember from the 90s and earlier.
Straight from Toyota. They appear to have limited master vehicle record capability but it’s not widely used because dealer participation is inconsistent. And only service paid for by the customer (notably excluding warranty work) appears at all. Kludgy for sure...
I just drove from Denver to Kansas City and back for a college visit - that’s about 1000 miles. Did it in my Tahoe as I await delivery of my LC. But I’ve done dozens of long trips in that truck and I post this because of the comments you made about the tires.
I put a set of Wildpeaks on the...
I’d take that bet. Toyota doesn’t really run a B2C operation right now. All of their customer-facing activity runs through a dealership network consisting of hundreds of disparate companies.
Toyota probably does have a CRM system but I don’t guess it’s used for case management with end...
I guess I’ll engage.
What Toyota would have to do here is set up a CRM system with a single contact record for a given vehicle that would cross dealership and service locations and would also cross ownership changes. It’s easier to do with cloud software than it would have been with on-premise...
Based only on eyeballing the tread pattern, those look like they might be a little quieter than the Falken AT3s I have on the Tahoe now.
Snow is my main concern. My off-roading behavior rarely goes beyond a trailhead road. But I get myself in situations on the normal where I have to get from...
I use the synthetic clay bar from Griot’s. I’ve used plenty of silly putty clay bar products too and this one works great.

I just did the Porsche last weekend with the 39030 - I still have a couple bottles. It is so ridiculously easy to remove, especially compared to carnauba wax. I love it. Looks like you could dive right in.
I’m not so sure that CAFE requirements are “driving Toyota to hybrid models.” If in 1985 Toyota could have built an engine that had more than triple the HP and torque of their then-current 4 and 6 cylinder offerings while delivering 50% better mileage, I suspect they would have.
Setting aside...
The OEM 20” tires are 60 profile - that IMO is not a short enough profile to distinguish itself in ride characteristics versus a 70 profile 18” tire. I’d expect the choice of tire would have more impact on the ride.
For fun comparison - my 911 has 20” wheels too, with 305/30 tires on the...
I’d advise to read the context. Many of the “I’m getting low mileage” reports I’ve seen go on to say that they’ve put 35” mud terrain tires on the LC and lifted the suspension. Or that sort of thing.
