Floor mats and things like that are usually just tossed in the back of the vehicle. Lugnuts, rack, etc. are all installed very quickly. The issue is often inventory levels of the accessories. My 4Runner Pro was at the port for like 3 weeks because they have to have all the parts available to...
You guys know that the dealerships let the car sit there and idle for an hour or so while they do PDI, right? That frontloads 0MPG in the average calculation. Just reset it and drive for a tank, and then report out. Literally every new car I've purchased showed horrible average MPG until I...
5000 is quite a lot, TBH. Enough that they'd have a hard time pitching it as "exclusive" to anyone aware of how many they are building. Surely they can't be expecting more than 30k Land Cruisers per year... that's 1 in 6 being a first edition.
IMO, that difference will not hold up in the 2nd hand market. The First Edition is cool, BUT, it doesn't add anything that is both very desirable and very difficult to retrofit. The interior touches are nice, but most won't notice not having them. The headlights, maybe? Roof rack, rock...
As far as safety ratings, we are very much at the point where circumstance and luck will determine the outcome more than a 5 star rated car against a 3 star rated car. A modern 3 star 4800lb SUV colliding with a modern 3000lb sedan doesn't care one bit about that 5 star rating. Just like that...
It actually appears to be a pretty good design from the perspective of installation and saving your roof from scratches, but it will definitely be a 2 man job. The basket itself is one piece that mounts on top of the feet.
While the FE rack doesn't require the sealant required on my 5th gen 4Runner's Pro rack, it does look like quite the job to switch back and forth. There are 6 feet that mount onto the roof itself (12 bolts), 4 plates that attach the rack to the feet (8 bolts), 4 individual bolts that mount the...
I think you are realistically looking at the high 6 to low 7 range. It will feel quite peppy because that's the magic of (electric motor) torque but for all out performance, it is still 326hp pushing around 5200lbs. My wife's torquey 2.0T MINI Clubman S is very much the same thing. It feels...
26" from the seatback to the ceiling is rough. I can sit up inside my 4Runner with the seats folded which is more like 34" of clearance from seatback to ceiling. It was easy enough to car camp in there. I was hoping that I'd be able to build a small platform on the 60% side to lay on and drop...
I didn't notice anything difficult about the Tacoma driving position compared to my 5th gen 4Runner. I have to keep my 4Runner seat in the lowest position for height unless I want to be looking directly down onto the hood scoop. I'm only 5'8".
Now that pricing is out for the Tacoma hybrids, I think that 4Runner pricing will fall in line with it. $65k for a Pro and $64k for a Trailhunter. 4Runner won't be a budget land cruiser. Just a different style and different flavor.
Heated rear seats will complicate removing the rear seats. Taller cargo area and easily removable rear seats are to plusses that the Land Cruiser has over the 4Runner for those that want to car camp.
Mine is the optional factory cargo deck. My previous 4Runner didn’t have it and that meant the cargo floor was about 2-3” lower than the folded seatback.
The Land Cruiser will have a taller, more airy cabin. I expect it will be more premium as far as the items that don’t fill out a spec sheet.
I’d assume that they don’t make a Jeep or Bronco competitor because the spreadsheets say that it isn’t going to be profitable based on their regulatory...
I think that we should be able to to build a slight platform that flattens out the seatback to cargo area. I usually camp in mine solo, so I'd want to build something on the 60 side to make that seatback to cargo area completely flat and then tumble the 40 side up so I have somewhere to put my...
5038lbs is listed for all 3 trims. I expect that isn't accurate. The interior pieces are nicer (and probably heavier) on the mid and upper trim, the wheels and tires will be heavier, the front seats with power function will be heavier. The roof rack, sunroof, coolbox, etc will add some...
IMO, interior is going to massively separate the 4Runner and Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser interior appears to be very well made and subtly stylish. The 4Runner interior is going to be an acquired taste at best.
IMO, there's going to be some sticker shock for the 4Runner Pro and Trailhunter. The Tacoma TRD OR with Premium package drops in at $55k. And that's without a hybrid. A 4Runner that is $20k cheaper than a Land Cruiser isn't going to be in the same ballpark mechanically or with creature...
They are going to make quite a few first editions and there's no question that they are pricy, so I don't expect that it will be super difficult for those that want one to get one.
I bought my GR Corolla without a test drive. I had a '19 Corolla HB 6MT before that I really liked, so I had a pretty good idea that adding 130hp, massive brakes, and a wide body wasn't going to make it worse. haha
I'm on my 3rd 5th gen 4Runner. Overall, I like what they've done with the 6th gen. The drivetrain is a big step up from when I test drove the 4th gen Tacoma. I expect the hybrid will be really good. The exterior looks good and it has nice colors on offer. My issues are largely with the...
I expect they will offer hybrid on the Limited and TRD trims like Tacoma. And I expect the Pro and Trailhunter will be $60k. They won’t offer full time 4WD like the Land Cruiser. There is going to be price overlap and that’s fine as long as the features reflect the price.
