My guess, as an R&D guy, is the techs heard a strange sound and called Toyota and it got to an R&D guy like me who (especially after all the engine problems they've had recently) really wanted to tear it apart and figure out what was going on and if it's an issue or not and is probably kind of...
Well yes, but if that's the case they needed to give it a larger fuel tank. They gave it a tank that only makes sense if it gets pretty good (>20) mpg. Only really makes sense at >22 MPG.
I’ve since updated it. There’s a 3-4 lb spread in weights different folks are reporting, which I suspect is due to variation in different home scales.
Overall the 20” wheel looks to be around 10 lbs heavier than the 18” wheel, which was surprising to me. Personally I’d rather have the extra...
The Falken WildPeak A/T4W in 265/70R18 comes in both standard load and E load, the KO3 only comes in E load in that size. Standard load will likely ride a lot smoother. It's also 7 lbs lighter.
Our plug in hybrid Volvo has the same issues with the 12V going dead causing all kinds of system problems, but it I understand correctly every time we plug it in, it makes sure both the hybrid and 12V batteries are charged. So the problems don't tend to start popping up until the 12V battery...
27.3 was based on a tire+wheel weight and the manufacturer's weight for the tire. I've added your direct weight measurement to the spreadsheet. 40lbs was what @solidbrix got then he weighed a 20" wheel directly, the other slightly lower figure is again an indirect figure from other measurements.
I image it's the scales -- home bathroom scales aren't calibrated, there's a few pounds variation in the different weights between different scales. I'm not sure what alloy the wheels are, 27 lbs does seem pretty typical, maybe even on the low end of aftermarket 18" wheels -- see the second tab...
You can check the spreadsheet. Some forum members who were swapping out wheels and tires weighed them.
Edit: now that I'm at a computer: the range of weights I have for the R20 tires is 36-39 lbs. The manufacturer doesn't list a weight for these.
If you're not planning to rock crawl and are looking to save some weight, you might look at the Greenlane aluminum rock sliders.
17" wheels have very little (a few mm) clearance from the brake calipers which is probably why Toyota is sticking with 18". If you aren't planning to offload a lot...
Most commonly used if you’ve got a pup in the back, so you can leave the window cracked open but still lock the doors. Here’s the cheap insecure version:

Anyone know if tailgate locks like this work on the Land Cruiser's rear window? I have one for my FJ (along with the cheaper but less secure hardware store solution of a swivel snap) for when I want air going through the back window but don't want the truck freaking out that the window is open.
Google has noticed I keep looking at tire web pages and now I get tire stories in my news feed. In the 265/70R18 size it's only 39 lbs according to Tire Rack. Not sure it's better than the stock tire? It seems to be aimed more at the larger wheel sizes.

For local trades/sales as well. Could be regional forums (like maybe California, or NorCal & SoCal) and then sub-forums under that (SFBay, Sacramento, etc.)
7" on the 1958, 7.5" on the other two trims. The two most common (so far) Toyota wheels people are getting (mostly to replace the 20" once) are 8" and 8.5". See the second tab of the spread sheet at: 2024 Land Cruiser Stock 18" Wheel Tire Options
After a quick search, the only standard load...
The few I've looked at generally require a minimum 8 or 8.5" wide wheel, wider than stock -- you'd need to upgrade your wheels. Do you know of any standard load options in that size? I might have to check, the few I've looked at are E load, a standard load or C load might work on the stock...
I just came across the Toyota Japan accessories catalog -- I'd noticed previously that none of the trims there come with the round lights. But in the accessories catalog, they are an accessory you can buy for any of them. That says to me Toyota intends them to be easily swapped out. I'll...
