I noticed the same. I haven’t gotten so low that the idiot light comes on, but the last bar on the gauge must be very conservative.
Will you volunteer as tribute and run it dry? :giggle:
P.S. I think it’s only 17.9 gallons.
I’ll be really interested in hearing your thoughts once Dissent step/sliders installed. They look really nice and I’m curious if they are wide enough to beuseful with winter boots.
Yes, I use it to store music like an old mp3 player. There aren’t too many instances where this is handy, but I like it.
traveling with my family: I want to use earbuds from my phone for an audiobook and still have stored music available for the rest of the car.

As a follow-up, I never did get this 32GB USB-C drive to work in the car.
I bought one of these USB-A to C adaptors: Amazon.com
The car will recognize any of my existing (FAT or FAT32) USB-A drives with the adaptor. So, I’m using this compact 16GB USB-A with the adapter.
If someone finds...
I have a 1958 trim and I’d agree, it’s not for everyone. I’m personally really enjoying it. I like the idea that it’s a bit like an 80s/90s SUV. I’ve driven past cars for long periods of time and hope to do the same with this one.
I don’t care about 0-60 faster than 8 seconds for this type...
Thank you, I did read through the manual. It seems like I'm doing the right things, but the drive isn't even visible. Before I just start ordering random drives off Amazon, I'd love to hear about a successful product.
I ordered the "Premium Horn 08522-B1010 KIT" which appears to have 500 and 400Hz horns. I assume/hope it will work the same but will report back with the results in a couple weeks when it arrives.
Has anyone successfully used a USB-C drive for music storage and which one worked?
I ordered one of these and formatted it as FAT32 (twice) and the car doesn’t recognize it at all. It could be I’m doing it wrong or the product isn’t compatible. I did read the manual, but it’s not working for...
Has anyone found a definitive answer about source of the rattle sound? This is a pretty expensive car from a normally reputable manufacturer. I don’t like a rattle in a brand new vehicle and I’d love to learn the reason.
There is a hole on either side of the car, but you need to pop out the cover over each hole before installing this.
It’s a bit too wide for both the bar that installs behind the seats and the part that pulls out and hooks in at the rear of the vehicle. I gave the seller the feedback and they...
I’m not the guy in that review, but I bought this item and agree. It works well once it’s in place, but does scuff the plastic when you install or uninstall it.
No. The stock 1958 245 tires are silly. I feel like Toyota specifically used them as punishment for buying the base trim.
When I need new tires I may go down from 275 to 265 like the other trims. But even that is high for my wife and a bit uncomfortable for many passengers.
Good advice. I did run into a funny thing with Google maps. It would only show a trailhead on a forest road I was going to as a walking route, not driving. Then, when I connected to the LC, it wouldn’t show the route at all. I assume CarPlay doesn’t want you to try and drive someplace that’s...
Yes you do it on the phone. Go to iPhone Settings - General - CarPlay. Then select your vehicle under “my car” and select Customize. You select what apps you want displayed and if you drag the little three lines “hamburger” on the right you can change the order.
I bought my 1958 for MSRP on May 31st. I called around and probably spoke to at least twelve dealerships. One of them called me back on the last day of the month and said they’d sell at MSRP if I came in that day.
I haven't bought sliders before, but that's expensive for my scenario. I'm sure they're a high-quality product and worth every penny, but it'll be near $2300 for me after tax and shipping. I may still buy them, but I really need to think about it. :)
I did this just because the white screen seemed really bright at night. I didn't think about it in relation to the housing, but it does look better. That said, the size of the screen doesn't bother me at all. It seems fine to me.
I've another couple hundred miles on it. About 50 of those were on forest service roads. I don't find the road manners more harsh, the height between 245 to 275 is definitely noticeable. It may be a bit more sluggish, but not significantly. The mileage is pretty terrible before and after the...
