Open hatch window from inside

Also, I just remembered that cam cleats exist. Could use this with accessory cord to adjust how much you want the window open… definitely getting into macgyver territory though

I wonder, is the button attached directly to the trim? Would that not make removing the trim a bit of a PIA?
He drilled a hole and attached it to the trim by the rear wiper.

It wouldn't be any more difficult than if you had an FE and unhooking the liftgate lights.

I plan on mounting my hatch and glass hatch buttons in the trim cover that cover the spot where the 3rd row seat belt would have been mounted.

A few things I need to verify and possible do work arounds........

1- if you lock the doors from the inside AND the electronic key is in the interior, will the front door unlock from the outside with the handle touch feature............ It'll be easy to put the key in a farad bag to prevent that but that kind of defeats the purpose of the button.

2- If a farad bag is needed, can the glass be popped without energizing the hatch lock 1st........ I'm pretty confident the hatch lock can be singled out and energized, similar to how I have my magnetic switch unlock just the driver's door.

I just can’t imagine touch would unlock the door with key inside. That would be a huge security risk

So the doors have got to be unlocked in order for the glass hatch button to pop the hatch. Locality of the E-Key has no effect...... if the doors are locked the outside button will not pop the hatch.

However....... On the hatch lock is a connector, with the hatch partially lowered to eye level of the connector, there are 3 wires:

Top wire in the connector is blk
Middle wire is wht/blk
Bottom wire is Blk

If you apply 12v to the top blk wire the hatch will pop regardless if the doors are locked/unlocked.

I’ve noticed in certain conditions trying to open a door without unlocking with the key fob triggers the car alarm. I think this happens when remote start times out and/or after sitting unused and locked the whole night. Might want to make sure this won’t do the same thing

I understand what you are saying, I don't use the fob anymore and I'm not triggering the central locking system, just the single glass lock. I haven't had an issue with my dvr's door unlocking switch.

Are you splicing the 12v supply line into another wire or direct to the battery?

Probably via a relay as most small switches can't handle the load. I also haven't made up my mind if it'll be a totally hidden Magnetic switch or a small push button. I'm still awaiting my rear hatch switch and depending on how that looks will determine if I go mag or push.

While we’re on the subject of wiring, do you know what to look up to find the connector that plugs into the 2400W plug? I’d like to relocate that plug to the driver’s side

I did find this web site very recently, I ordered about 109 pieces from them (many connectors both male and female and the matching pins) They are from Japan and haven't arrived yet so I can't vouch for them...... yet.

Now here's where it becomes an educated guessing game......... on the attached wiring diagram there are two possible connectors, "K22" or "ZK2" and the only way to narrow it down is to remove the trim panel and compare the connector etc........ I have also attached the connector data sheets to get the part# for the connector and matching pins. I couldn't tell you which one to choose as I did take a picture when I had the side trim panel removed and have no plans to remove that panel in the near future for a comparison.

Looks good.

I received the connectors and pins from Japan for my hatch opening mod. Of course they weren't the correct ones and I had to shave the key rails off the male connector, they now fit the OEM switch and I was able to fabricate a breakout harness. With the breakout harness installed the OEM switch works like it should.

Now if the new, inside, OEM switch would arrive from FeaBay, I can complete the mounting of the inside hatch and liftgate switches.
