Interior Trim Removal

Thank you, that’s perfect, yes not completely removing it, just sliding off the housing so I can attach the harness. Much appreciated!
 
Here's the rear liftgate trim:
1. Start with the upper center piece around the rear camera. I think there are 6 of the white pegs:

2. Remove the sides. There are 2 yellow pegs per side. You can leave them hanging from the main panel portion

3. Remove the cover around the rear wiper motor. You need to open the rear glass to get to this one. There are 4 clips along the top, pull them out and then pull up for the 2 on the bottom corners.

4. Remove the "handle. There are 3 clips on each side. I don't know if there is a better way other than just pulling it out on one side. I did damage one of my clips though.

5. Pull the cover around the door latch straight down and then swivel it out around the 2 "hinge" clips:

6. Pull the panel holding the power latch buttons similarly to the "handle" on the other side. You'll need to swivel it and push it into the body of the liftgate or unclip the wiring.

7. Once you have all that done, the large panel is ready to be pulled off. It is only held on by several white pegs. Just start on one sid and work your way around. Sorry, no picture of the panel below is what it looks like when it's off. Ignore the white wire and gaping hole where the sub was mounted. I was experimenting with getting a signal for a powered sub.

To remove the overhead console:

I used an "L" shaped trim tool remover.
Start at the windshield R/H forward edge of the console and pry straight down. ( I use a piece of a plastic milk jug to protect the headliner while prying) once you can get your fingers in the gap, give it a sharp downwards yank, it'll pop right off.

To get the sun visor hold clip off:
Twist it and it and the inner part (the hook part) will slide right out. The hook part also acts as the keeper for the surround. To get the surround out, use a pick tool or very small bladed screw driver and depress the two very tiny plastic tabs and it'll slide right out. Now the head liner can be pulled away from the roof enough to tuck wires or cable behind/above it. I ran my WeBoost interior antenna cable to the center of the console opening, cut a very small "V" notch about 1/8" so the cable could exit the headliner. I mounted the antenna on the flat plastic area of the console
I tried removing this console panel today and I felt like I was going to crack the plastic. Even with the tool shown, I can barely pull it open enough to get a finger in the gap (giggity). I'm sure I'm being too careful, but I've never felt a panel resist like this. Anyone have a video...

This is to tap a 12v supply using the OEM dashcam connector, so I can wire a radar detector and Garmin dashcam. I have the connector Toyota uses for their dashcam, but if there's an easier ignition activated 12v supply in the cabin I can tap that's easier than this, please let me know.

Ya just gotta take a leap of faith........ 4 plastic Christmas tree fasteners are all that hold it to the roof. I have found a steady pull is pointless but a sharp downward yank, like you were pulling it 6" straight down works best.

Dvr's side trim panel removal.

Remove the rear hatch threshold
Remove the 5 storage trays (rear, R/H, L/H, L/H lower and front)
Remove the cargo floor flip up tie down points
Remove the cargo floor
Remove the rear hybrid battery trim surround (large "U" shape)
Remove the "T" anchor from the Dvr's side rear hatch pillar (gentle twist)
Remove the 10mm bolt beneath the "T" anchor
Remove the 3rd row seat belt trim panel cover (3x3 square)
Remove the 10mm bolt beneath the 3rd row seat belt trim panel cover
Remove the 2nd row dvr's side seat belt anchor bolt.

Starting at the rear vertical edge, use an "L" shaped trim panel tool and start popping the fasteners. You will need to disconnect the rear LED light connector and the fwd USB connector.

You do NOT need to remove the upper trim panels (rear hatch to window and the window to door).
FYI, I found that removing the protective "shell" that covers the hyrid battery made getting the passenger side trim out MUCH easier and less like to break something. The shell is only held down by eight 14mm bolts that only take a couple of minutes to remove. Not sure if it makes driver's side easier or not because I'd already pulled it out before I got to the driver's side.

Probably too late to get an answer, but did yours come with the tailgate lighting? If not, any chance you noticed extra plugs under the panel for lighting? (Assuming thats the sub wiring hanging down)

Not sure what you mean by "tailgate lighting"?

Yes, the white wire was just a quick and dirty connection from the OEM sub connector to the powered sub I was trying to set up.
 
The First Edition has lights in the tailgate, while no other models do for 2024. Just wondering if the wiring is there, or just added for that model. Toyota often uses a standard wiring harness, so the wiring could potentially be tucked away there..

I didn't look at anything very closely other than the sub wiring. Are you referring to interior lights for the cargo area or exterior?
 
Id have to find a picture, but for the first edition there are two lights mounted in the middle of the tailgate.

I think he may be referring to the interior of the hatch, the FE has 2 white lights on the interior. I think he's asking about (in my pic) "new wire splice" is where th FE has a connection for the hatch lights.
