New from UK

Same lack of info here….. I asked Toyota UK as surely they know more about imports than the dealer but they came back with a ‘Don’t worry, we are on the case and asking your dealer for an update.’
Hopeless.
Tyres - I’m also giving this too much thought given we don’t even know if the car will ever be delivered! My previous LC’s came with the Dunlop Ditchfinders and at purchase was always told you can’t upgrade them as it could invalidate the warranty. Land Rover offer upgrades to A/T tyres.
I’ve ordered an Invincible which comes with 20” rims so can expect a reassuringly expensive bill if I go the BF Goodrich route. Mind you, will they even fit within the wheel arch??
The agonising wait continues……….
Toyota UK told me that they update the My Toyota BUT they have had problems with it NOT updating ???? Toyota UK also told me the Dealerships have got the same portal as them to access any updates at the factory regards in build etc etc

The message about the impact of the UKs arbitrary 22% (or24% can’t recall) zero emission mandate kicking in in 2024 and the manufacturer vulnerability to the £15k per vehicle fine could be on the spot (see Harry’s Garage for a good overview of the UK mandate and the right figures)

Surely it would be perfectly possible for Toyota to manufacture and ship to the UK a small number of vehicles (say 300) that they then have to hold here before releasing to dealers until they know the overall make up of their annual sales allows them to release them

What isn’t clear is why diesel are any worse that petrol - it’s also surely the case that LC FEs at £80k must be better vehicles to “sell” from a sellers perspective than lower value petrol or diesel that are being discounted to sell and so offer a smaller margin

Does logic apply in Toyotaland ? I have no idea

To my mind there are too many hints at September / October deliveries I would put money on these vehicles are at the UK Docks somewhere probably Bristol maybe Grimsby , the next thing will be held at port for quality checks

“……I would put money on these vehicles are at the UK Docks somewhere probably Bristol maybe Grimsby…..”

Feels right to me -

or even at the Dealers because the Listers Stratford Toyota let slip they cannot register them Mmmmm are we clutching at straws ???

How do you know Dave - I have no updates

The App is no longer showing any details of my order - seems to have gone a bit weird - might need to be rebooted

Did you hear from dealer - if so will chase him

My App must have been updating - now shows that it has been build left the Aichi factory and in transit to Portbury which I think is Avonmouth Docks

Do you know how we find out which ship the LCs are on

Mine now has updated after about 10minutes of the app spinning it’s wheels…………….”
Left the Factory
Toyota City (Aichi Prefecture), JAPAN”

Found a brilliant post on the GR Yaris forum - it is very long and gives lots of great info on how Toyota ship vehicles

The key takeaways for those looking at shipments from Nagoya to Portbury is as follows

  • the ship will have left port 24/48 hrs BEFORE the My Toyota App updates
  • the journey to Portbury takes between 28/31 days
  • if we take the more conservative dates that suggests arrival latest Sat 21 Sept 2024 at Royal Portbury Docks Bristol

Thanks flyingtrotter, looks like the date of 14th Oct from my dealer for might be realistic.

Yes mine has updated this AM after a few minutes of spinning and a reboot

Looks very much like we were correct in our thinking - all UK spec LCs manufactured in one batch and all being shipped together to the UK - likely arrival at Royal Portbury Docks around 20-22 Sept

If that proves to be right and no quality check delays we could be taking delivery in October - seems tight to get delivery in September

KevD your 14 Oct target collection date does seem quite realistic - I do not have a date from my dealer but to be fair to him he seems to have less info than we do

Did you select any options on yours?
So far, dealer hasn't been able to get any info out of Toyota on what each option includes. I particularly wanted to know what was included in the Essential Protection and the Style Packs. The Essential Protection Pack sounded straightforward, with the floor mats and the boot liner, but not so the side moulding. If it's the same as the Canadian option of the stuck-on colour coded door guards, then I wasn't interested. I therefore just selected the fixed towbar. My dealer did say that some items would be available as a dealer fit anyway.

That’s interesting I have not been told about any UK options - in fact my dealer said there was only a colour choice for the UK FE and no options

Can you send details of the packages and pricing - seems like once again the forum knows more than the dealers
