Brakes Squeal

Well I called and was escalated (for the first time) up and have a case created with Toyota who is supposed reach out by the end of business Tuesday. Not sure if I got lucky with a good agent, or after enough cases they realize something has to be done, or they did not like the idea of the videos being posted for people to see.

Does anyone else exerience brakes squeel in reverse? Mine seems to do it mostly after it has sat for a while. I only notice it in reverse.
So, I went this morning (Belgium) and al the LCs have that chain to lower the spare tire if needed. Nothing you can do about it apparently. Except what I did, use zipties.
About the phonechargers... they (mostly) don't charge but. Toyota knows this for many years and they do nothing about it. Again, my solution was to buy an inverter to plug in my 65W fast charger. Works fine now.
Another noise that I heard comes from the back seat belts where they are mounted. That feels really cheap (aswell). I plugged them in and that noise is gone. Maybe I will put an elastic rubber around it to avoid the rattling noise.
I also asked about the squeaking brakes and without pause the said: 'We will replace them.' So my conclusion of this matter is... if you don't complain they just ignore the problem. My question then is... what else are they aware of that they just don't mention So now they will contact me when the new brakes arrive.

Mentioned squealing brakes to service advisor at my 20,000 service today. He laughed and said they are very aware of the issue, but can't do anything until Toyota issues a bulletin about it... ugh

Is the a PDF posted here from TIS that details the brake pads and associated information replacement process for those that might just replace the parts themselves and want to torque the hardware correctly?

Here's the TSB for the Lexus and brake PDFs for the LC

Got my LC in February, the squeal started a few weeks ago. Currently at ~1800 miles. Like most everyone else, only in reverse, only when starting the car up for the first time after it has sat overnight. Super high pitched squeal, super embarrassing for a brand new $70k vehicle (or a brand new vehicle regardless of cost).

I thought I was one of the few that had no reverse squeals.. but it started at around 1800 miles. I am sitting at 4000 miles now and it's still squealing. Especially in the morning backing out of garage, 50% of time when I am backing into a parking spot during the day too.

I’m at 4200 miles and my brakes have been squealing in reverse since I purchased the truck. I’ve mentioned it to the Toyota service Dept and they said they are aware and waiting for a fix. How do we get in touch with Brand Engagement? I’d like to send them a video of my super quiet cul-de-sac …that is until I back out of my garage.

How many of you squealers park in a garage at home? I know that wouldn’t be a satisfying excuse, even if it aggravates the problem - but I’m curious.

I’ve put 16k on my ‘58. Live in the humid South; park outside. It has only squealed once and that was shortly after a recent afternoon thunderstorm.

Seems like a consumer class action might be appropriate. No one buys a new vehicle to have the breaks squeal.

I believe all of this is attributed to electric parking brakes. They clamp so hard when they apply, if the rotors are hot they tend to stick where they apply, any dust/debris/moisture and any surface rust from heat/moisture just add to it. When that brake releases and the rotor turns it essentially drags and causes the squeak. I have a 2025 Mazda CX-70 and there is a terrible release “clunk” when the pads are stuck to the rotor after sitting all night. They clamp down so tight. Wash your vehicle, park it for the night and you’ll always see light surface rust on the rotor in the morning. A parking brake clamped down that tight is not going to be a smooth surface to release from

Heard back from the Brand Engagement and it sounds pretty generic. We'll see what my dealership says.

Happy update on the reverse brake squeal. It has been horrible since the beginning (currently at 4300 miles). Yesterday, my dealer replaced the front discs and pads, and added an "Anti Squeal Front Shim Kit." The part number is 04945-60100. I park outside and it gets cold at night. No squeal this morning for the first time! I'm really happy with my dealer for taking the bull by the horns.

I had the same service performed on my GX 550 yesterday, and I've been waiting for the TSB to resolve the issue on my Land Cruiser.

The Lexus dealership said it would cost just under $400 to have this done out of pocket if I choose not to wait for Toyota to acknowledge the problem. He advised me to wait.

Here is my update since having the local dealership replace my pads, hardware, and resurface the rotors a few hundred miles ago. They did all of this under warranty as well. It probably helped that I dropped it off the night before the appointment and parked it so the tech would need to back up to get it into the bay so he would almost certainly hear it. He did note on his tech notes that he confirmed the “very loud squeal”, so I guess it worked.

So far, so good. No squeal at all and it is garaged every night. I won’t consider it a full success until I have gone a couple thousand miles since that’s about how long it took to show up in the first place.
