Brakes Squeal

Spoke with Toyota (800-331-4331) and while futile, the support person was helpful and explained that there are no current TSB or recalls for the Land Cruiser (something I knew) but further explained the more complaints they get, the more likely and sooner something will come of it. So I highly encourage anyone with this issue to reach out and complain to Toyota.

I finally called Toyota Brand Engagement. Explained the squeeling brake issue to the kind voice on the other end of the line. She agreed. It’s a problem.

I then went on a 48 minute rant about the crappy, deceitful, and hateful service that Miss Daisy got at the Ocala, Fl Toyota dealer, ‘with receipts’, when my GF and I were vacationing down there. ( I haven’t even posted that info on here yet 😖)

Thanks for the Toyota number... 800-331-4331

Calling these clowns right now. Need to make this right. Been happening to me ever since first rainfall when I only had ~1k miles. Still only at 3k and no improvement after trying to work the pads in. No signs of rust this early on either.

Inmates need to quit bellyaching on here about the squealing brakes, and just call Toyota. The number has been posted in may threads on this forum.

Keep calling. I called Toyota a second time (now at 7500 miles and still squeezing) and they pushed my complaint to the dealer. The dealer claims they are not allowed to fix it until Toyota puts out a bulletin or they could have some liability. Also, all they can do is put the same parts back in. Toyota is losing future customers over this. Maybe we need to get the Toyota press representative involved.

Pretty much the same experience, they called the dealer before calling me. I said they need to issue a service bulletin so the dealer knows what to do, I don't really blame the dealer at this point.

I’ve tracked this from the beginning. The most maddening thing is that there is a TSB for the Lexus GX. Every time I see this post pop back up in the “Latest posts list…” I expect someone to announce a TSB… nope.

Everyone..

KEEP CALLING TOYOTA 800-331-4331.
A lot of us "bellyaching" here have called the number multiple times (thrice in my case) and have gotten nowhere with Toyota or our dealers. I've owned 24 vehicles in my lifetime and this is the first time that I have ever had a problem with a new vehicle that was not remedied immediately. So I appreciate that you are trying to help by getting people to call Toyota directly, but to blame people for being upset about this issue is not helpful. I have every right to be upset for stroking a $78k (after sales tax) check for a rig that is embarrassing to reverse in parking lots.

X 💯 🎯

I wrote an email Tetsuo Ogawa, the President of Toyota North America, regarding the issue. I found his e-mail through a quick google search ;-).

I received a response from someone in the Executive Office who claimed they would intervene by speaking to a product specialist and the dealership.

Their response was really no better than the dealership: No TSB. We will keep you posted. I have had better luck with my GX 550 which is currently awaiting spare parts to complete the service bulletin. Perhaps the issue is the supply chain for the fix, or perhaps that's me giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The EO did tell me that the more reports they get, the more likely they are to see this as a problem.

Wanna post that email address?

Update: I took my LCFE in for 10k maintenance a few weeks ago, dealer was able to replicate the brake squeal, acknowledged this is a known issue but no TSB yet. Regardless, and to their credit, they still replaced the front brake pads and shims and coded it under the <12k brake warranty. I have had ZERO brake squeal in over two weeks and counting…
Still no noise?

Thanks will send an email with a few videos of how bad the issue is after I get off my weekly call with Toyota to complain about it. Seems to be very hit or miss regarding what happens on the phone.
They're not all that responsive to an email either, but if we all keep on them about it, I imagine they will respond at some point.
