I've seen a lot of debate about premium vs. non-premium fuel. I suggest everyone watch this video. You can skip to the 17:07 mark. The whole video is good, but he specifically addresses premium fuel at the time mark I provide. I guess there are those who don't value this guy's opinion, but he seems to know more about Toyotas than any other mechanic out there.

People just argues and debates on anything/everything, especially, this topic ā€œpremium or non premium gas on LC 250ā€ even thought auto maker ( the one design/create the vehicle/engine) clearly warns / states ā€œpremium fuel onlyā€!
Of course, people can go South or Northā€¦whatever they want and pay for their decision.
To me, as 34-year design engineer, I strongly trust that Toyota engineers / manufacturer know their own stuffs and definitely better than any of us in automotive knowledge.

Pls donā€™t throw rocks on me. Premium or not premium gas is your CHOICE.

Happy LC to all.

Its risk vs reward. With about a 50-60 cent differential between 91 and 85 here in CO it would save me at most $7/week to go with low grade. So what's an engine overhaul/new engine going to cost me if a piston explodes when I'm hauling up I-70 at highway speed? 10 grand? 15 grand? I dunno, but I'm guessing a lot more than I'll spend on premium gas over the next decade so the potential savings do not outweigh the potential risks. And not to be condescending but if your nickels and dimes are that critical to balancing your budget - and, hey, for some of us they are, no shame in that - there are much more affordable vehicles that get much better gas mileage than the LC.

LC (Premium and FE) is not ā€œaffordableā€ vehicle. Most of owners will add more mods ($2K-3K / tires+wheels and much moreā€¦ask me how I know šŸ˜œ) with ton of $$$ on top.
Surely, LC owners can afford even ā€œjet engineā€ fuel hahaha. This comment definitely got rocks thrown

Am I a peace maker or trouble maker? šŸ˜œ Trying to make a day full fill with ā€œargumentsā€ šŸ˜œ

Be great if people would just read stuff more carefully.

I have seen a few interviews (in Japanese) with toyota engineers and they are asked specifically how a toyota engine is going to maintain its reliability while employing a turbo. The answer was in heat reduction due to optimized combustion through new(extremely complex) ways to combust efficiently. Premium fuel is one of the components to reduce heat in Toyota turbo systems efficient combustion. Call me an idiot, but I will never put regular fuel in my turbo toyota LC

Iā€™d love to watch that video if you can find it

We are living in US where has ā€œjungleā€ law. Most reliable/ lawful things counted are in written forms ( not YouTube, not instagram, not hear byā€¦)
All lawyers of the company reviewed all before to put legal stuffs out the public ( ask me how I know ;) )
Toyota has 100 billions dollars asset, when they labeled and put information on your vehicle, then they are undeniable / perfect stuffs, or can cost them entire Toyota empire.
ā€œ oh no, you pull this (warning) up again, manā€ šŸ˜œ

I found one. Start at 6:50 to about 12:16. Pretty technical but useful. This is specifically for the new V6 in the GX, but the second video I am looking for connects that similar tech and advancements were used on the 4 banger. With combustion efficiency being such a large part of the reliability design, I wont justify lower octane.

Iā€™ve actually seen that one. I like his content. He makes good videos.

I think the point was............. dozens of other people have posted almost the exact same information in numerous posts. I doubt anyone is going to sway anyone else by posting videos and or comments concerning which fuel people should use.

Some will use premium and some will use regular........ who really gives two flips of a duck's bill about what anyone else uses.

And yet, people continue to come here with that question. So if the video helps them, great. If theyā€™re not interested in the subject, they donā€™t have to view the thread. Like how I donā€™t intend to view threads asking what is the biggest tire I can go without a lift.

To be honest, I donā€™t worry much for the people who choose to ignore good advice. But these LCs are beautiful rigs and they deserve a long, happy life. Iā€™m just trying to encourage people to provide the best care so they can live the life they deserve. Plenty of people will neglect them and then sell them to some poor soul who doesnā€™t know better. Itā€™s not the carā€™s fault gas is expensive

You do you

Iā€™m really sorry if I wasted your precious internet time. I was just trying to share something I found interesting.
The post was not intended to diminish the content you shared or any of your opinions. Rather, it was an attempt at humor to provide levity. Given that two model years have already passed, and this is the most frequently asked question about the Land Cruiser after two years, I believe there is no new information to be shared. Essentially, the decision lies with the individual regarding the modifications they wish to make. Whether to adhere to the manufacturerā€™s recommendations or disregard them is entirely up to the owner.

Additionally, the post was not directed at you. If it had been, you would have been quoted. It was directed at all the individuals who posed this question, either because they lack knowledge or are simply engaging in trolling behavior.
