Hello,
Yesterday, I removed my spare tire and kept it in the garage. I drove for 15 minutes and I got a warning for TPMS system malfunction.

I know many people here have upgraded their tires to 33" or 35", and the spare tire won't fit in its place on the car. So, how do you deal with this situation where you have only four tires (No spare) when you are driving, and how do you get rid of this warning?

how do you get rid of this warning?
My spare is currently the only tire with the TPMs. A warning pops up on the display and I touch the area where it is written “dismiss”. Seriously though you should carry your spare even if you have to strap it down in the cargo area. JMO.

Have you tried programming the 4 as a second set of wheels? Might pick up the 4 and not even care there wasn't a 5th?

I had my 35" spare under the car for a while at a ridiculous angle, but ended up putting on a Dirtcom hitch tire carrier.

Can you share which one you ordered? And how about the Camera? Did you move the Camera?

Here is a link to what I did.

The tire carrier is made by Dirtcom...

I have submitted a request to the Toyota service and they are working with the factory to fix it. My spare tyre was over tightened in the factory resulting in a damaged wheel (indents you can put your finger in). For now I am playing around with Carista app that resets the error.

I have a 33" spare underneath and it fits with room to spare. The tire size is LT255/80R17.

How did you dismiss that spare tire warning light? More specific. Thanks much

I have two solutions:
1. You can buy from Toyota or Amazon a similar/compatible TPMS and using a pvc pipe 2 inch diameter, about 10 inch long with caps (all build for high pressure)... here's an explanation video
To replace your current spare tyre code in the cars computer you can use the carista app and OBD (BTW great tool to use for activation of hidden functions and customisation).
2. Option two, take the new TPMS or existing one (better and easier and you don't have to buy the OBD and previously mentioned app). Remove only the TPMS from the spare tyre and install it in one of the other tyres. Glued to the selected tyre rim inside in the opposite location of the existing TPMS.

Cool trick. Thanks

An idea which may help…. We have a 24 LC and Tacoma. I like the spare pressure reading on the display of the LC. The Tacoma didn’t have it. Using a scan/write tool, I was able to add a spare with sensor (physically) and then add the TPMS sensor ID to slot #5 in the ECU. After a little drive, the truck picked it up and has been showing it since. All that just to say this: have you tried writing out (zero/blank) sensor #5 on your LC? Thinking if it works when adding, it should work when subtracting…
