Toyota Port Installed PPF

In the SF bay area a partial PPF job would cost about $1000-$1500. Toyota is $439? The question is are you willing to pay more for better quality or are you happy with a basic PPF job at a lower price. A personal decision...
Any recs for PPF installers in the Bay, specifically South Bay? It seems like every installer has a perfect 5 star rating on Yelp and I know that a lot of these ratings are fake.

Is it proven that aftermarket PPF is of higher quality than OEM/Port? Tests?

San Carlos , JB Auto Spa. Have great experience with those guys.

Iโ€™m
It came on mine. It covers the whole hood panel, but it does not wrap over the edge. Its cut cleanly 1/8th of an inch all the way around. There is no PPF on the quarter panels. There is also a 8 inch triangle on the lower corner of the passenger door.
wonder why itโ€™s only on the passenger door?

Mine has the PPF from "factory", and is listed on factory window sticker. It goes onto hood and front fenders about 6 inches deep. Hard to see the edge in most lighting. It also has PPF inside the door pulls for protection from fingernails. That is very hard to see.

General advice is for any brand, do not let the dealer or factory install PPF. You get upcharged, and quality is often poor since they just want to churn it out and get it out of the factory.

If you are looking for an installer, I generally recommend following where Porsche 911 cars go. Those owners tend to be visually quite picky, moreso than even exotic car owners.

Not doubting this advice, but sure would like to find some independent tests of the quality of factory PPF vs aftermarket. Personally, have never had an issue with factory (installed at POE) PPF.

On my black FE, you really have to look, and depends on how the light is hitting it. It covers the first 1/4 of the hood, front fender flares, area of the fog lights and mirror backs.
So yours included the fog light area. That's a little more coverage than the Toyota website says. Toyota describes their coverage as:

"Kit includes paint protection film for hood, fenders, mirror backs and door cups."

Thats not bad for $439 but it only covers 12" of the hood and fenders. I have a local guy I've been using for over 10 years. He comes to your house and installs 24" film on the hood and fenders and also covers the fog light areas, headlights, A-pillars, mirror backs, door cups and door edges. I also had him put door edge film on my rear door as it sometimes gets scratched along the edge. His price is in the $1,000 range, though.

Yes mine has it and the area around the fog light on my FE.
