So I was in a pretty bad wreck the day I bought my ew LC. Next day the collision shop said they could get everything but a right radiator support, and dealer said it was back ordered indefinitely. This was April 8. They said they had no idea, but it could be months. I started a parts case with Toyota corporate the next day and mentioned that if they could t support a $70k vehicle with parts, they should have to buy it back. A rep called me 3-4 days later and was helpful. I go to church with a guy that works at the Toyota plant about 25 miles from here, and he put in an email to Exec Brand Engagement, who called me the next day and said that I was one step ahead of them with a parts case, but they would call me every Friday and update me. They called today and told me the part was delivered yesterday. So about 2.5 weeks. Maybe I was lucky and the part was already in route to US and would have been available anyway? I don’t know the answer, but Toyota was very responsive, and I believe tried to be as helpful as possible on
this. The only thing that is worrisome is that my collision guy said he actually got a support a few days back from dealer, and it was about as mangled as the one in the wreck. That’s crazy to me that Toyota would deliver a part that was obviously severely damaged. Anyway, I am pleased that some work can start next week. I am hoping to have the LC back by end of May, but I know it’s going to be a ton of work and hundreds of pieces to be put back. Better than 4-6 months waiting on a part. Anyway, I highly recommend contacting corporate brand engagement and really pressuring them right off the bat if you need a part they “don’t have available”.
