Not just LC's, but reading 1 or 2 MPH over actual is typical...
Yep - I'm regularly 1-2 over around town and on the highway. I have a 1958 with the 245 18" and have wondered if the car is calibrated to a larger tire, but I've also anecdotally heard this exists on the LCLC and the LC FE. I've accepted as a minor nit.
Yes. I notice that the discrepancy starts at approximately 30mph (i.e., the GPS speed in Google Maps/Waze shows a speed that’s approximately 1 mph slower than what’s displayed on the Land Cruiser’s speedometer). At 70 mph there’s usually a 2 mph difference. I’m running BFG KO3s on a First Edition in the OEM size of 265/70R18. I’ve noticed this behavior since day one owning the vehicle.
The reason is due to varying tire sizes offered on the LC. It appears that Toyota has it programmed to one size for all LCs.
Out of curiosity, I paid attention to this over a couple long drives this past weekend, in particular at interstate speeds (70-85mph). Google maps speed was almost always +3 vs speedometer. However when I passed by some of the "Your speed" displays, it was generally only +1 to +2 vs speedometer. LCLC with stock sized 265/70/18 tires.
Regardless, I decided to be happy with my speedometer speed. What's the rush?

When I had 275/60R20 winter tires on mine, the speedometer and GPS were nearly always in perfect agreement. Those are right at 33” diameter.
